The Perkins Township Police Department announced the arrest of 41-year-old TERRY TRAVON THOMAS (pictured).

THOMAS is accused of brutally stabbing his 8-month-old puppy after she accidentally went to the bathroom inside THOMAS’ house.

Friendship Animal Protective League, an animal shelter in Elyria, said that on the early morning of Saturday, May 17, 2025, they received a “frantic” call from the staff of Northview Animal Clinic regarding a dog who had been brought to the emergency clinic and was “bleeding from a large gaping wound in her face.”

The humane team of the Friendship APL responded to Animal Clinic Northview and THOMAS signed the dog over to the officers. At that point, the staff at the clinic was authorized to begin the life-saving surgery to give the puppy, named Ivy, a fighting chance. Veterinarians had to repair Ivy’s ear, which had been sliced off, and repair a gaping open wound.

The humane officers then presented the evidence to the Perkins Township Police Department who placed THOMAS under arrest on Monday, May 19, 2025. THOMAS was charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals and was booked into the Erie County Jail. He has a court appearance scheduled for May 29, 2025.

Friendship APL said in their press release: “The road to recovery for this girl will be long, but despite the horrific trauma she went through we remain hopeful. Greg Willey, our Director was able to visit her after she woke up from surgery. She will spend several days recovering at Northview Animal Clinic, before going into a foster home for some continued and much needed TLC.”

On a separate note, THOMAS is also facing an animal cruelty charge dating back to March 2022.

~ Update: May 21, 2025

The Lindenwold Police Department tells me the dog is a 3-year-old Poodle Bichon mix named Max.

~ Original story:

The Lindenwold Police Department announced the arrest of 38-year-old TURQUOISE K. MORTON (pictured).

Police said that in March 2025, officers were dispatched to the Belmont Apartments on 2009 White Horse Pike, after receiving a report about a dog who had been discovered in a trash bag in one of the dumpsters on the property.

Upon arrival, officers found in fact a dog in a trash bag. The furvictim was thankfully alive but according to the police, he/she was “severely malnourished and was suffering from multiple severe injuries.”

After a thorough investigation, the public’s assistance, and about four days after sharing a security camera image of a “person of interest” in the case, MORTON was arrested on May 20, 2025. MORTON was charged with abandoning a domestic animal, cruelty to animals, and torture/torment/maiming.

Police said MORTON was transported to the Camden County Correctional Facility where she will remain at least until a detention hearing.

As for the furvictim, police said he/she underwent several surgeries and his/her “recovery was facilitated by a local animal shelter.” The Sweet Soul has since been adopted and is doing well.

In this article there are references to dogs being “sexually abused.”

For the record, I totally disagree with the phrase as I firmly believe that it should be called what it is, RAPE!

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old KAYLEE JILL ESCKILSEN (pictured).

The arrest followed an investigation conducted by the Special Victims Unit which revealed that ESCKILSEN had two dogs in her home and engaged in sexual acts with them.

The arrest report identified the furvictims as a brown female Cur-type dog named Simona, and a white male Dachshund-type dog named Odie.

The report accused ESCKILSEN of sexually abusing Simona and Odie, filming the acts, and uploading them on an online app.

According to the report, when ESCKILSEN was interviewed by investigators, she stated that “several individuals” would ask her to have sex with her dog and being a “people pleaser”, ESCKILSEN would have Simona perform acts on her which she filmed with her phone before sending the videos to the other users. According to ESCKILSEN, the last incident took place in August 2024.

Simona and Odie were removed from ESCKILSEN’s residence and placed in the care of Lee County Domestic Animal Services.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said: “The actions of this disgusting woman sickens me. Thank you to the agency members involved in this investigation and arrest for allowing these dogs to now be in safe hands.”

Court records show ESCKILSEN is expected back at Lee County Circuit Court on July 8, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
