DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG TO DIE IN A HOT CAR”, is the appeal by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office after the arrest of 26-year-old ANDY JOEL MATUTE VILLATORO (pictured).

MATUTE VILLATORO, of Houston, Texas, is accused of leaving a dog inside a hot car while he went to the beach.

As stated in the Facebook post, “It’s not only dangerous and inhumane — it’s illegal.”

According to the sheriff’s office, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, deputies received multiple reports about a small dog being in a hot car for about an hour on Scenic Gulf Drive.

Along with deputies, Walton County Animal Services also responded to the scene.

Officials said the car wasn’t on, the windows were slightly cracked open and they used a lock-out kit to open the vehicle. The dog, a Yorkie, was safely pulled out and given water.

When Walton County Animal Services tested the temperature inside the vehicle, the reading at the time was 120°.

The sheriff’s office say deputies called the number on the dog's collar, and a short time later, MATUTE VILLATORO “showed up.”

He was at the beach”, stated the Facebook post.

MATUTE VILLATORO was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail on one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty. He was released on June 1, 2025, after posting a $1,000 bond.

The Haughton Police Department arrested 62-year-old MICHELE MARY MASSARA (pictured).

Police said that on May 23, 2025, officers were called out to a residence in the 400 block of Union Texas Road to do a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers noticed a “horrendous” smell. Through the window, they observed dogs in cages stacked on top of each other.

According to police, MASSARA wouldn’t let officers inside leading them to request a search warrant.

After serving the search warrant, officials were able to rescue thirteen (13) dogs from “appalling” conditions.

Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said in a Facebook post that his office was contacted to assist with the dogs due to Bossier Parish Animal Control not having room for the furvictims.

Sheriff Parker said: “We’re ready and willing to do anything we can to help a neighboring law enforcement agency. I’m glad we were able to provide the resources necessary to help rescue these animals.”

MASSARA was placed under arrest and charged with thirteen (13) counts of animal cruelty. She’s being held on a $460,000 bond at Bossier Maximum Facility.

The rescued dogs have been examined by a veterinarian and are now in the care of LaMa Animal Rescue.

If you wish and can afford to make donations to help out the rescued dogs, you can contact the Haughton Police Department. Thank you!

The case remains under investigation.

The Peoria Police Department arrested 30-year-old MALYRA MONIQUE JONES (pictured).

JONES’ arrest is the result of an incident that happened in June 2024, when officers saw a Pitbull in a truck at the Lexington Hills Apartments.

The furvictim appeared to be underfed and was weak.

An investigation led to JONES' apartment where the only thing present was a couch. A warrant was then issued for JONES’ arrest.

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Peoria Police officers encountered JONES on Monroe and Evans Streets. When she was questioned about the dog, she said she was watching him/her for a neighbor. JONES denied being the Pitbull’s guardian as she’s scared of dogs.

Officers placed JONES under arrest and booked her into the Peoria County Jail. At the time of writing, records show she’s still in custody at no bond.

JONES is facing charges of animal cruelty and obstructing justice.

I reached out to the Peoria Police Department to inquire about the furvictim. If I get a response, I will post an update.
