The Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested 62-year-old OLGA H. MURPHY and her husband 54-year-old IGOR Y. MURSALIMOV (both pictured).

MURPHY and MURSALIMOV hold an active breeder license.

According to the arrest report, back in April 2025, Collier County Code Enforcement officer Frank visited MURPHY and MURSALIMOV's home at 1740 Piedmont Court in Marco Island to perform an inspection.

During this visit, Officer Frank saw two cats “with inverted eye lids”.  This was brought to the attention of MURPHY who then surrendered the cats to Collier County Domestic Animal Services saying she could not afford medical care for them.

On June 9, 2025, the Honorable Judge Robert L. Crown approved a search warrant for the home on 1740 Piedmont Court in Marco Island.

According to the report, “Officer Frank requested Law Enforcement and Veterinary staff to be on scene as she suspected several cats might need medical care”.  Officer Frank also indicated that on previous visits MURPHY and MURSALIMOV would not allow her entry and possibly hide cats from her when she attempted to conduct the required inspections.

On the morning of June 11, 2025, officials entered the home. According to the report, there were two young cats in the living room, four kittens in the front bedroom, nine cats on the patio, nine more cats in the kitchen, and twenty-four cats in a small backroom.

An inventory was done and a total of 57 cats were removed from this home”, stated the report.

In the living room, officials found a freezer containing approximately fifteen to twenty deceased cats.

Officials reported that all litter boxes were full of fecal matter. The floor of the small backroom was full of vomit, fecal matter, and urine.

Although all the furvictims had access to water, most of the water bowls were dirty.

MURPHY signed an owner surrender form for all but the four kittens. However, Collier County Domestic Animal Services seized the four kittens “due to the totality of the situation”, read the report.

Erica Unz, DVM, was on the scene and conducted a medical evaluation of each living feline.

One cat stood out, a black female named Irene. Irene needed medical care and was suffering from a ruptured eye. Irene has been dealing with this injury since 2023. This type of injury is painful and requires surgery, which was clearly not done.

When the deputy with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office talked to MURPHY, she admitted to hiding sick cats from previous inspections as well as Irene due to her eye injury.

MURPHY went on to state that in 2023, when she was out of the country, her husband advised her of Irene’s condition, but MURPHY has never taken the furvictim to the veterinarian because she could not afford the medical care. She also said that her daughter-in-law is a veterinarian in Russia and each time a cat has a medical issue, she gets advice and prescription medication from her. MURPHY then administers care accordingly. MURPHY explained that every time she travels, she brings the medication back to the country.

MURPHY and MURSALIMOV are facing one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.

Court records show MURPHY and MURSALIMOV are scheduled to appear back in court on July 7, 2025, at 8:30 a.m.

Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said: “I’m proud of the swift action our detectives and partners took to remove these animals from an unhealthy environment so they can get the necessary care. Animal cruelty has no place in Collier County and we will continue to work aggressively to hold offenders accountable.

This continues to be an active investigation as further evaluations and necropsies are underway.

As I am writing the story, I am in receipt of a response from Animal Services, and I learned that none of the rescued cats were euthanized!

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 47-year-old SHYANNA MARIE BORDELON, her son 26-year-old MURRAY JOSEPH GROS IV, and Glenmora Police officer 33-year-old STEVEN MATTHEW WARE (all pictured).

According to the press release by the RPSO, on May 25, 2025, deputies received a complaint regarding an appalling incident which took place at a home in Glenmora on May 21, 2025, and that “had possibly been mishandled by the Glenmora Police Department.”

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division then stepped in for further investigation.

BORDELON had been asked to watch a neighbor's two dogs while the neighbor was away “for an unknown amount of time”, stated the release.

While BORDELON agreed at first, she later decided to no longer care for the dogs, so she and GROS reached out to Glenmora Animal Control to turn the dogs over. As stated in the press release, Animal Control refused to take in the dogs because “… there was no reason to do so as she had admittedly been given the responsibility of care and the dogs did not belong to Bordelon.”

At that point, BORDELON and GROS contacted the Glenmora Police Department and WARE responded to the call.  According to the sheriff’s office, WARE said they could shoot the dogs. The mother and son told WARE they did not have a gun.

WARE returned to the Glenmora Police Department where he retrieved a personal rifle and handed it to GROS. GROS shot and killed the defenseless dogs and then buried them. GROS then gave the rifle back to WARE.

The investigation conducted by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division resulted in the arrest of BORDELON, GROS, and WARE.

GROS and WARE were taken into custody on June 3, 2025, and BORDELON was arrested the following day. They were all booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

WARE was released after posting a $12,500 bond while BORDELON and GROS are being held on a $7,500 bond.

BORDELON and GROS were each charged with two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of criminal conspiracy.

WARE was charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, one count of criminal conspiracy, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of malfeasance in office.

The investigation is ongoing.

I took the liberty of naming the Voiceless Victims Cloud and Sky for the tribute image. Should their given names be made public, I will rectify them accordingly.

Walker County authorities arrested 56-year-old BELINDA RODRIGUEZ and 47-year-old RAUL RODRIGUEZ (both pictured), following a welfare check conducted by Walker County Animal Control Officers.

ACO received a complaint regarding horses who appeared to be malnourished at a property on 44 Manor Lane outside of Rossville and responded to investigate.

On the property, Officers discovered multiple animals, including chickens, donkeys, goats, horses, mini-horses, pigs, and rabbits. Officers reported that some of the animals were emaciated and were not provided with enough feed to sustain a healthy body weight. They further reported that some of the animals had open leg wounds, inflamed skin, and were missing fur.

A veterinarian was called in to evaluate the Voiceless Victims and determined that some of them were in pain and the conditions they were suffering from were due to neglect. According to the veterinarian, the RODRIGUEZES had failed to provide the proper upkeep required of livestock.

The pair surrendered all of the animals who were removed by ACO. Those who were in the most severe condition were placed in the care of TMMA Farms & Sanctuary in Trion for treatment, while the others are being taken care of by a livestock rescue.

BELINDA RODRIGUEZ was charged with eleven counts of cruelty to animals and RAUL RODRIGUEZ is facing twelve counts of cruelty to animals.
