The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested 49-year-old MARQUIS LAMONT WILLIAMS (pictured).

It all started with a tip that deputies received back in March about a house on the Northwest side of Jacksonville that was being used to distribute illegal drugs.

When authorities executed a search warrant on the property, they discovered more than just illegal substances and firearms. The sheriff’s office said they found multiple dogs as well as dogfighting equipment, trophies, and books.

According to the press release, none of the dogs had access to food or water. Some of them were kept in skyboxes, while others were chained. The poor souls displayed serious signs of neglect, including being covered in feces, fleas, and infections. Furthermore, they had open wounds as well as wounds in the process of healing.

Animal Care and Protective Services responded to the scene to remove the dogs.

The search further led to the discovery of young raccoons and turtles also in poor health condition.

In a small, fenced area, authorities stumble upon a 9-foot alligator.

The sheriff’s office said: “The alligator had no access to water in the cage; bones scattered on the ground suggested he was being fed the other animals on the property.“

The reptile was safely removed by an alligator wrangler who responded to the scene.

At the time of writing, records show that WILLIAMS is being held into the Duval County Jail on more than a dozen felony charges for animal abuse, including illegally possessing an alligator and promoting dogfighting.

According to court records, WILLIAMS’ next court date is scheduled for July 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

~ Update: June 27, 2025

The ASPCA has issued the following statement:

"The ASPCA is providing medical and behavioral care for 8-month-old Poodle, Olivia, after she experienced abusive treatment at the hands of her owner. The surveillance footage of her abuse is incredibly difficult to watch, and we are grateful to our partners at the New York City Police Department for mobilizing quickly to get Olivia the care she needs. Animal cruelty is prevalent across New York City’s five boroughs, and only through collaboration with local law enforcement and animal welfare agencies can we prevent and address animal cruelty issues citywide. No dog deserves to suffer — and we’re committed to assisting the NYPD and Queens District Attorney’s Office with the investigation into Olivia’s abuse to help ensure she does not encounter mistreatment like this again."

~ Original story:

On the early afternoon of Monday, June 2, 2025, officers with NYPD 114th Precinct responded to an apartment building in Astoria to investigate an animal cruelty report.

An officer reviewed video footage from a camera located inside the building. The one minute and forty-five second video showed 40-year-old CARLO SILVA callously abusing his 8-month-old female Poodle puppy named Olivia.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a press release that SILVA could be seen yanking Olivia “by the leash, throwing her down the stairs and dragging her back up the stairs as her body thrashed and rolled against the steps.” According to the press release, this abusive sequence was repeated twelve times. The incident took place on May 31, 2025.

But that was NOT an isolated incident! In fact, as reported by Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, “The same behavior was observed on surveillance footage from approximately 2:55 a.m., 3:00 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. on June 1 and approximately 2 a.m. on June 2.”

After reviewing the appalling footage, SILVA was placed under arrest.

Olivia was taken to the ASPCA where she was evaluated by veterinarians, and she then underwent a forensic veterinary examination. Evidence showed that Oliva “suffered extensive skin contusions over multiple areas of her body, scabbed wounds on the top of her head and right front leg, a chipped incisor tooth and skin scars along her lower right back.” Additionally, X-ray images revealed “a recent fracture of Olivia’s right rib as well as soft tissue swelling of the bone of the front leg”.

As stated in the press release, “The injuries were found to be the result of recent blunt force trauma and caused the dog to experience significant physical pain.”

On June 18, 2025, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that SILVA was arraigned on five counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance.

Criminal Court Judge Sharifa Nasser-Cuellar ordered SILVA to return to court on August 13, 2025.

District Attorney Katz said: “The senseless brutality depicted on the surveillance video in this case is sickening.”

And yet, if convicted, SILVA faces ONLY up to two years in prison.

The Phoenix Police Department arrested 37-year-old EDGAR JONATHAN GLOVER (pictured).

GLOVER is accused of ear cropping and tail docking dogs without a license.

According to the probable cause statement obtained by Voice For Us, on May 28, 2025, the Arizona Humane Society contacted the police after receiving a disturbing complaint.

The Humane Society told the police that on May 21, 2025, GoodVets Animal Hospital reached out to them to advise that a dog had been brought in after she had an ear cropping and tail docking procedure performed by a “subject who is not a licensed veterinarian” and that the procedure had been performed at a home.

Investigator Johnson with the Arizona Humane Society contacted the dog’s guardian, whom I will refer to as Mr. D., and went to see the dog. Investigator Johnson reported that the dog was wearing a cone and took pictures of her.

Mr. D. told the investigator that he had joined a Facebook Group for Dobermans and he was referred to a guy who could perform the surgery of ear cropping and tail docking. Mr. D. then showed investigator Johnson the Instagram account of the individual who operated on his dog. Mr. D. went on to say that when he went to the given address, 7639 W Globe Avenue, he thought he was taking this dog to a vet office but instead he found a residential home.

Mr. D. said the garage of the home was “set up like a veterinarian”, it had items like a veterinarian office and there were a lot of cages with dogs inside. He told the investigator that GLOVER said he performs these kinds of procedures “all of the time, even at dog shows.”

According to Mr. D., he could tell that his dog was in pain and when he asked GLOVER for pain medication, GLOVER said she was well and did not need any. Investigator Johnson asked Mr. D. how much he paid for the procedure, and he said $400.

Mr. D. explained that he had taken his dog to the hospital because he did not like how the procedure was performed and wanted some pain medication for his dog.

A search warrant for GLOVER’s home was applied for and granted by Judge Elizabeth Campbell. On June 24, 2025, Phoenix Police along with other agencies executed the warrant at GLOVER’s home.

Officials discovered sixteen dogs trapped in kennels without food or water. The bowls in the kennels were dry and full of feces. One bowl was full of a “red or brown substance”, stated the affidavit.

Officers with the Arizona Humane Society who were on the scene, observed that some dogs had what is described as “scalding” on their paws from possibly sitting in urine. Additionally, some of the dogs had cherry eye and one dog was “very lethargic.”

After GLOVER was placed under arrest, he told one of the detectives that he had a firearm in his bedroom closet which he was prohibited from possessing due to a previous conviction in an unrelated case. After Phoenix Police executed a search warrant, officials discovered and confiscated the firearm, marijuana, and money.

At the time of writing, records show that GLOVER is still in custody.
