On July 24, 2025, in Broome County Court, 46-year-old AARON LEE MOSLEY (pictured), received the maximum allowable sentence following his conviction for aggravated cruelty to animals.

Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti said in a press release that an investigation conducted by the Binghamton Police Department with the assistance of the Broome County Human Society and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, revealed that during the months of February through to May 2024 MOSLEY had confined numerous dogs outside and within the garage of his residence.

The dogs’ critical condition prompted immediate action by law enforcement and animal welfare authorities.

The dogs “were found living in their own feces, visibly malnourished, and without adequate access to food, water, or shelter”, stated the release.

I reached out to the Broome County Humane Society to inquire about the dogs. I learned there were fourteen (14) dogs at MOSLEY’s residence, but he was only charged with eight (8) counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, in reference to those who were found in the garage, as the others were “in okay shape.” Sadly, one dog was found deceased in a crate.

The organization named the dogs who were discovered in the garage:

Adam, estimated date of birth: 5/19

Belinda, estimated date of birth: 5/23

Chasity, estimated date of birth: 5/23

Dibbles, estimated date of birth: 11/23

Elsa, estimated date of birth: 12/23

Freddy, estimated date of birth: 5/23

Gary, estimated date of birth: 11/23

The furvictim who was found deceased was named Nonsense, estimated date of birth: 5/23.

The Broome County Humane Society told me that a necropsy was not performed on her, but she was “very emaciated”, and they feel she died from neglect. A parvo test came back negative.

I was further told that none of the dogs were euthanized and that all of them have been adopted.

When I asked whether this was a dogfighting case, I was told: “I think he was just breeding them and selling them.”

The Honorable Joseph F. Cawley sentenced MOSLEY, of Binghamton, to two years in the Broome County Correctional Facility and issued a judgement in the amount of $5,114.25 in favor of the Broome County Humane Society.

District Attorney Battisti said in a written statement: “This case represents one of the most disturbing examples of animal neglect I have witnessed There is absolutely no excuse for subjecting vulnerable animals to such cruelty. Our office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who abuse animals, and Mosley’s conduct warranted the maximum sentence allowed under the law.”

You will forgive me if in the tribute image to the deceased soul I used a different name than the one given to her by the Broome County Humane Society. I chose to name her Stella, Italian for star.

~ Update: August 22, 205

The Gulf County Sheriff’s Office tells me the dog was an approximately 2-year-old male. His name was not provided by BIZEK.

I also learned that a necropsy will not be performed on the furvictim and that BIZEK has another dog.

~ Original story:

The Gulf County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old BRIAN KEITH BIZEK (pictured).

On July 22, 2025, Animal Control Officer Mayhann contacted the sheriff’s office in reference to an animal welfare complaint.

ACO Mayhann explained that he responded to a residence on 437 Palmetto Drive in Port St. Joe where he sadly found a deceased dog. The officer said the dog was tethered to a metal structure in an unshaded field. His/Her lead was entangled, restricting his/her movement and access to water.

Deputy Cole responded to the scene and made contact with BIZEK who admitted he had instructed his son to tether the dog and failed to check on his/her condition. BIZEK claimed the dog may have been poisoned but was unable to provide evidence to corroborate his claim. Furthermore, according to the affidavit, BIZEK "showed no visible remorse and admitted to leaving the animal unattended in extreme heat."

A witness, whom I will refer to as Ms. B., told the officers that in the morning she saw BIZEK putting the dog outside and despite the dog's distress, BIZEK left the residence. According to Ms. B., the dog was panting heavily before collapsing. She further reported that BIZEK "had exhibited aggressive behavior toward other animals in the past."

The dog's pictures taken by ACO Mayhann, were submitted to Mark Eddins, executive director of American Animal Cruelty Investigation School, who stated: "I reviewed the photos and based on the weather conditions, lack of shade for the animal, and conditions of the body, this is a clear case of the animal dying from heatstroke. The sloughing off the skin is caused by severe dehydration associated with heat stroke. Considering the heat index was 107 degrees, it is unlikely there is any other cause. Dehydrated slough of skin refers to a type of necrotic tissue that accumulates on the surface of a wound, typically appearing as a yellowish or white, stringy substance. It is composed of dead cells, debris, and tissue remnants that have not yet undergone proper breakdown.”

Deputy Cole wrote in his report that BIZEK did not show any responsibility or remorse and accused him of recklessly neglecting the dog's well-being resulting in death.

BIZEK was arrested on July 30, 2025, and charged with one felony count of cruelty to animal causing death, pain, and suffering.

At the time of writing, records show BIZEK is being held at the Gulf County Jail and his next court date is set for September 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Devin D. Collier.

The affidavit does not contain the dog’s age, name, breed, or sex.

I took the liberty of naming the furvictim Lake for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 59-year-old DELFINO ROSALES (pictured).

According to the office’s press release, on the evening of August 5, 2025, deputies responded to the 3000 Block of S US Highway 1 for a reported disturbance.

On arrival, deputies made contact with ROSALES’ girlfriend who stated that when she returned home that evening, she saw ROSALES beating one of her dogs with a belt multiple times.

When the woman confronted ROSALES about it, he became aggressive and “placed his hands around her neck, choking her,” stated the release.

The woman told deputies that ROSALES was striking the dog, a brown and white Pitbull, because the dog was not responding to his commands in English, only in Spanish.

ROSALES’ girlfriend went on to reveal that two days prior, she saw ROSALES hang the dog from a tree in the backyard because according to ROSALES, the dog had attacked his chickens.

During that incident, ROSALES’ juvenile son stepped in and took the dog away.

In ROSALES’ backyard deputies recovered the noose which they say was used to hang the dog.

St. Lucie County Animal Control was called in and took custody of the two dogs at the residence.

ROSALES was placed under arrest and charged with animal cruelty, battery by strangulation (domestic violence), and child abuse.

At the time of writing, records show ROSALES is being held into the St. Lucie County Jail with no bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
