The St. Petersburg Police Department arrested 37-year-old YASHA LASHAY DAVIS (pictured).

DAVIS was arrested on August 20, 2025, but the incident that ultimately led to her arrest occurred on July 3, 2025.

On the above date, several family members of DAVIS were at her home on 3928 8th Avenue South setting off fireworks in celebration of Independence Day.

DAVIS’s dog, a 5-year-old female Pitbull terrier named Fendi, caught a firework in her mouth and sadly died “a cruel death by explosive,” according to the affidavit.

The affidavit further stated that investigators learned that DAVIS had “made multiple comments to others about how her dog would chase fireworks as if they were toys, but made no attempt to secure the animal.”

DAVIS told officers she knew Fendi behaved this way yet allowed her to run freely around the yard and surrounding area.

As per the affidavit, Animal Control conducted numerous investigations prior to the July incident. The most recent investigation, which began in September 2024, resulted in eleven civil citations against DAVIS, with most of them for allowing dogs in her care to run at large because the yard where they were being kept was not properly secured.

DAVIS was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and released the same day of her arrest after posting a $5,000 bond.

Harris County Constable Precinct One Alan Rosen announced the arrest of 49-year-old LUCIE DJIEMENI SIEWE (pictured via Facebook).

SIEWE is accused of abandoning a kitten and striking him with a black Ford 150 pickup truck as she drove away. The furvictim was left severely injured on the side of the road along Lake Houston near FM 1960 and Crosby Huffman Road.

The sickening incident happened on July 29, 2025, and was thankfully captured on video by a witness.

A Houston SPCA’s ambulance rescued the 3-month-old kitten, named Alex, and through a Facebook post the agency advised that he was “receiving care for multiple fractures and a serious leg wound.” The Houston SPCA also said: “If the leg doesn’t heal, amputation may be necessary.”

A $5,000 reward was then offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the abominable act. The case was being investigated jointly by the Houston SPCA and Office of Constable Alan Rosen, Harris County Constable Precinct 1.

Finally, on Friday, August 22, 2025, SIEWE was arrested at her home in Humble by deputies with Constable Precinct One’s Animal Cruelty Unit. She was charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

Alex is recovering at the Houston SPCA after surgery for multiple fractures and other treatments for a deep leg wound. Most recently, Alex underwent lifesaving surgery to repair a diaphragmatic hernia.

Constable Alan Rosen said in a written statement: “There is a right way and a wrong way to treat animals and this way was not only wrong, but criminal. We know that for many people, pets are family and this should have never happened. If she did not want the kitten, there were plenty of ways to put it up for adoption.”

- Wyoming, USA -

On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Sublette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that a Sublette County grand jury indicted 43-year-old CODY ROBERTS for one felony count of cruelty to animals.

The charge stemmed from an appalling incident that took place on February 29, 2024, when

ROBERTS ran down a defenseless juvenile male wolf with a snowmobile. ROBERTS struck the poor soul until he was so disabled that he could tape his mouth shut. ROBERTS took the wolf home, then he walked with the wolf on a leash into the Green River Bar in Daniel. ROBERTS showed the wolf off before taking him behind the establishment where he shot him in the head killing him.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department took the lead in responding to the incident. ROBERTS was cited and paid a $250 fine for illegal possession of wildlife, a misdemeanor.

Investigating wardens could have pursued steeper penalties and sent the case to court but decided not to at that time. Game and Fish has maintained that wolves are not protected by animal cruelty laws in areas of Wyoming where they are designated as predators by the state.

In early April 2024, Cowboy State Daily obtained a picture showing ROBERTS at his home posing with the wolf who had his mouth taped shut.

Pictures and videos showing the inhumane and ruthless treatment of the wolf went viral, and understandably sparked fury and indignation across the internet and even a tourism boycott of Wyoming.

Sublette County Prosecuting Attorney Clayton Melinkovich said his office was at one point inundated with more than 10,000 emails a day about the wolf. Mr. Melinkovich said: “Largely the frustration was that the act of hunting a wolf in Wyoming was legal — that was first and foremost. Many people were surprised and shocked.”

In April 2024, the Sublette County Sheriff's Office announced that an investigation was launched into ROBERTS’ actions and said it was unaware of the situation until the story went viral.

In June 2025, Sublette County Prosecuting Attorney Clayton Melinkovich requested a grand jury in ROBERTS’ long-delayed legal case. The grand jury was sworn in the 9th Judicial District and convened the second and third weeks of August for “evidentiary sessions.” After “receiving evidence” and “deliberation,” the 12-member panel returned a “true bill,” the procedural step that makes an indictment official.

The charge faced by ROBERTS is punishable by up to only two years in prison, a meager fine of $5,000, or both.

I took the liberty of naming the Voiceless Victim Francis for the tribute image.
