The Albuquerque Police Department arrested 31-year-old JUSTIN ALEXANDER LEVERETTE (pictured).

On August 25, 2025, LEVERETTE was in his car outside his apartment on 328 Cagua Drive NE, near San Pedro, where he lives with his girlfriend.

During a heated argument with his girlfriend’s two brothers, one of the brothers’ dogs approached the vehicle LEVERETTE was in. Police said LEVERETTE grabbed a handgun from his vehicle and pointed it at the brothers before grabbing the dog by the neck and shooting him/her in the back.

Sadly, the dog did not survive the shooting.

When the brothers’ second dog walked up to the vehicle, LEVERETTE hit the dog with his vehicle before driving down the street. The second dog also sadly died.

Witnesses told the police that LEVERETTE stopped a few houses down and shot at them eight times.

LEVERETTE was taken into custody and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The state wants to keep him behind bars until trial.

LEVERETTE is facing two counts of extreme animal cruelty, six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and shooting from a vehicle.

LEVERETTE was on active parole for robbery and shooting from a vehicle in 2021.

- New York, USA -

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced charges have been filed against 38-year-old KRISTOPHER FYFFE.

FYFFE is accused of wrapping duct tape around the muzzle, eyes, and legs of one Pitbull, as well as keeping that dog and four others in unsanitary conditions in the back of a van.

DA Katz explained in her press release that according to the charges, on the early evening of August 23, 2025, FYFFE was observed on 133rd Avenue outside of Gwen Ifill Park in Locust Manor wrapping tape around the muzzle, eyes, front legs, and back legs of a white and tan Pitbull. When two witnesses confronted FYFFE, he allegedly waved a knife at them, so the witnesses called the police.

One of the witnesses filmed FYFFE’s actions and then posted the video to social media.

A woman, who saw the video on social media, recognized FYFFE and was able to report to police that she had seen him drive a Honda Odyssey with out-of-state license plates and added that she saw multiple dogs living in the vehicle.

On August 24, 2025, a New York City Police officer spotted FYFFE driving the van on 134th Road and Bedell Street. A computer check revealed that the plates did not match the vehicle registration.

FYFFE was stopped and according to police officers, there were five kennels in the van, each with a Pitbull inside. Officers reported that the kennels were covered in feces and urine, there was urine in the water bowls and no clean water or food.

A forensic veterinarian with the ASPCA reviewed videos and photos of the Pitbull who had been wrapped in duct tape and explained that “such restraints would have caused the animal pain and suffering, specifically pressure on his tissues, occlusion of blood flow and further pain and discomfort from the removal of the tape,” stated the release.

FYFFE, of East 83rd Street in Canarsie, Brooklyn, was arraigned on the night of Monday, August 25, 2025, in Queens Criminal Court on a criminal complaint charging him with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals/failure to provide sustenance; two counts of menacing in the second degree; five counts of failure to provide proper food and drink to impounded animal; two counts of harassment in the second degree; and registration of motor vehicles/fees/renewals.

As explained by DA Katz, the case is not eligible for bail under New York state law. The DA’s office asked for supervised release, which was set by Queens Criminal Court Judge Lana Schlesinger, who ordered FYFFE to return to court on November 13, 2025.

If convicted, FYFFE faces up to only two years in prison, a joke!

DA Katz said: “As alleged in the complaint, this defendant gratuitously inflicted harm on a

defenseless dog by wrapping the animal’s nose, eyes and legs in duct tape. When police confronted the defendant, they found five dogs, housed in kennels covered in urine and feces in the back of an unregistered minivan. No animal should ever be treated this way and I thank those who intervened and reported these cruel acts to the authorities.”

⚠️WARNING⚠️The article contains details some of you may find distressing⚠️

Santa Barbara County District Attorney John T. Savrnoch announced that on August 6, 2025,

36-year-old DAVID SCOTT GENOVESE pled guilty to five counts of animal cruelty and “admitted a special allegation for personally using a deadly weapon.”

This monstrous case began on January 25, 2025, when deputies with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office discovered a cat in distress in GENOVESE’s vehicle.

The cat, named Sultan, was found with a paracord around his tiny neck and his paws bound with duct tape.

According to DA Savrnoch, Sultan was determined to have “significant injuries including broken teeth, bones, and severe head trauma.”

Deputies learned that GENOVESE had just adopted Sultan a few hours earlier from a Los Angeles-based animal shelter. Sultan was in good health when he left the shelter thinking he was going to be happy in a happy home!

The sheriff’s office and the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office launched a joint investigation from which it emerged that at some point in 2024, GENOVESE began “accumulating, torturing, and disposing of cats in the Santa Barbara area,” said DA Savrnoch in a press release.

Investigators learned that between August 4 and September 6 of 2024, GENOVESE adopted four cats from both the Santa Barbara and Santa Maria Animal Shelters; their conditions and whereabouts are unknown. Additionally, GENOVESE had stolen two kittens from the same animal shelter in Los Angeles on January 15, 2025. Their whereabouts are not known.

While a warrant was obtained for GENOVESE’s arrest, on January 29, 2025, he stole a 2.5-year-old orange tabby cat named Lancelot from a family home in Ventura.

GENOVESE was taken into custody on January 30, 2025, and in the trunk of his vehicle, deputies sadly found Lancelot, lifeless. According to DA Savrnoch, Lancelot’s paws were “bound with packaging tape, similar to Sultan.”

Deputies then returned to the area where they had initially contacted GENOVESE and 55 feet from where he was parked, they discovered a deceased tabby cat in varying stages of decomposition.

As stated in the release, “The tabby cat’s paws were bound together with black duct tape, the same tape located in the defendant’s vehicle. The animals suffered extensive bruising, multiple broken legs, all four canine teeth broken, dislocation to their spines, and dislocation to their tails.”

The Honorable Judge Von Deroian has sentenced DAVID SCOTT GENOVESE to the maximum sentence of 6 years, 8 months in State Prison.

I have reached out to the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office to request more information about the furvictims and if I get a response, I will update the article accordingly.
