The Dallas Police Department arrested 49-year-old TURKESSA BLACKMON (pictured).

BLACKMON is accused of savagely, barbarically, and unmercifully hitting a defenseless dog with a bat.

On October 12, 2025, officers responded to the 13300 block of Cloverbrook Lane in southeast Dallas after receiving an animal cruelty call.

Officers learned that BLACKMON was witnessed repeatedly striking a dog with an object outside her home. Neighbors thankfully documented the incident on video.

The dog, who is believed to be homeless and wandering the neighborhood, was wailing and lying on the ground while being beaten by BLACKMON.

Although neighbors were able to briefly care for the injured dog, it’s unclear why no one took the poor soul to the vet. Now the search is on in an attempt to find the furvictim so that he can receive medical treatment as according to neighbors, he was bleeding from the face.

On October 16, 2025, BLACKMON was arrested and charged with one felony count of cruelty to non-livestock animals. She was booked into the Dallas County Jail and released after posting a $5,000 bond.

No additional details are available at this time.

⚠️WARNING⚠️Some of you may find distressing the pictures contained in the article⚠️

61-year-old VICTORIA ANN SHOOPMAN (pictured) has been sentenced after pleading guilty to two animal cruelty charges.

Clermont County authorities had arrested SHOOPMAN back in July 2025, on accusations of slowly starving a dog named Apollo to death. SHOOPMAN was charged with two counts of cruelty to a companion animal and one count of failure to register. She was arraigned on July 22, 2025, and pleaded not guilty.

The complaint accused SHOOPMAN of depriving Apollo of food and water over a prolonged period of time, ultimately leading to his death.

In July, Apollo was found close to death on the side of the road by a passerby who reached out to Ashley Barber, a veterinary technician, for assistance. Ms. Barber then contacted Kim Bush, who runs Rescue Me Animal Advocacy, and they both took Apollo to an emergency veterinary center.

Although Ms. Barber fostered Apollo and took care of him, Apollo was in such poor condition that he did not survive.

On October 16, 2025, judge Nathan M. Little sentenced SHOOPMAN to 130 days in jail, with 42 days suspended. According to court documents, SHOOPMAN received a lifetime ban from owning, keeping, or harboring any animals. After completing the handful of days behind bars, SHOOPMAN will be on probation for two years.

Here is another judge that made animal cruelty a mockery!!!!!

~ Update: October 17, 2025

I just learned from ASPCA that no animals were found deceased on the property and none of the rescued dogs and puppies were euthanized.

~ Original story:

Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis announced the arrest of 42-year-old QUENTIN RODERICK REID (pictured), of Goose Creek.

Sheriff Lewis said in a press release that it all started in July 2025, when deputies received a tip from a concerned citizen about possible dogfighting activity at a residence on Reese Court in the Goose Creek area of Berkeley County.

A preliminary investigation led to a drone operation and multiple search warrants executed at the residence in question.

When deputies searched the residence, they found “more than 50 dogs living in deplorable conditions. Deputies also located evidence consistent with dogfighting,” stated the release.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) assisted deputies in rescue efforts. The ASPCA explained in its press release: “The animals were found living in extremely poor conditions. Some were found to be malnourished and dehydrated or suffering from other untreated medical conditions, and four dogs were in such critical condition that they required immediate emergency veterinary care. Most of the dogs on the property were confined to dilapidated wooden kennels saturated with urine and heavily soiled with feces. Some also had scarring consistent with dogfighting, and dogfighting paraphernalia was found on scene, including a treadmill, medications and supplements, and a breeding stand.”

All of the furvictims, who include several puppies, “will be transported to an ASPCA recovery center where they will receive forensic veterinary examinations, medical treatment, and behavioral care and enrichment,” said the ASPCA.

In addition to the dogs and the puppies, deputies discovered “approximately 118 pounds of marijuana, approximately 4.5 grams of Crack, approximately 7.8 grams of Cocaine, three stolen firearms, four firearms, 36 dosage units of a scheduled narcotic, and approximately $3,842 in cash” said Sheriff Lewis.

REID was arrested on October 15, 2025, and charged with fifty counts of rabies control chapter violation and forty-nine counts of ill treatment of animals with torture.

For the narcotics, REID is facing charges of trafficking marijuana over 100 pounds, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack, three counts of possession of a stolen firearm, and six counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

At the time of writing, records show REID was released from the Berkeley County Jail after posting bond.

In a written statement Sheriff Lewis said: “Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Berkeley County. The conditions we discovered were inexcusable, but a quick start to the investigation allowed deputies to rescue the animals and bring the suspect to justice. This case is a reminder that cruelty, of any kind, has no place in our community, and those responsible will be held accountable.”
