- Hong Kong, China -

The Hong Kong's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) has concluded that cats and dogs cannot pass the new coronavirus on to humans, but they can test positive for low levels of the pathogen if they catch it from their guardians.

This conclusion has come after a dog in quarantine tested weakly positive for the virus February 27, February 28, and March 2, using the pup’s nasal and oral cavity samples.

CNY Central reports that an unidentified spokesman for the department said in a news release: “There is currently no evidence that pet animals can be a source of infection of COVID-19 or that they become sick.”

The agency suggested any pets, including dogs and cats, from households where someone has tested positive for the virus should be put into quarantine.

The general advice for pet parents, regardless of the virus, is to maintain good hygiene, including washing hands before and after handling animals, their food and supplies.

Furthermore, people who are sick should avoid contact with pets and most importantly, if we detect changes in our furbabies’ health, we should seek for a veterinarian's advice.

The spokesman added and I TOTALLY AGREE: “Apart from maintaining good hygiene practices, pet owners need not be overly concerned and under no circumstances should they abandon their pets."

- Wisconsin, Columbia County, USA -

On Saturday afternoon, February 29, as a result of reckless driving, high speeding, and unsafe lane changes, a Dodge Avenger struck a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck first, and then a Toyota FJ Cruiser that went off the road rolling three times and ended up into a ditch against a tree.

It happened on I-90/94 west, at mile post 103, near Portage.

During the roll, a small black puppy was ejected from the Toyota and his parents were taken to Divine Savior Hospital.

While the couple were being hospitalized, a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper searched the area and located the frightened furbaby who thankfully was uninjured.

The trooper then took the pup to the hospital where he was reunited with his family.

- Raleigh, North Carolina, USA -

Here we go again. Another innocent dog killed by a reckless UPS driver.

It happened on February 13, to the Gibbs family in Raleigh who have lost and are mourning their German Shepherd named Gucci.

The driver came racing down their private street and hit Gucci.

Gibbs’s daughter was there when it happened and witnessed the traumatizing scene.

A tearful Ms. Gibbs told ABC 11 that Gucci used to give blood at a local vet hospital saving hundreds of dogs, but he could not be saved because the trauma was too blunt.

Ms. Gibbs also said that Gucci died protecting his human sister.

She explained that their furbaby was a highly trained dog and cost them $10,000.

The Gibbs got Gucci after they were robbed in 2015 when three masked men entered their residence and stole many valuable items.

ABC 11 have contacted UPS and spokesperson Kim Krebs said: "The driver is extremely upset about the situation." "Our thoughts are with the owner during this unfortunate situation. We are investigating the incident and working through a resolution."
