It’s our king’s birthday, adopt a stray dog as a gift to him

Bhutan, is a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalaya’s eastern edge, tucked in between India and China.

The kingdom on February 21, celebrated the 40th birthday of their king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering had a great and unusual gift idea.

According to a tweet by journalist Namgay Zam, the Prime Minister asked the citizens to “adopt a stray dog each as a gift for His Majesty on His Birthday today."

The journalist said that she and her fiancé have already adopted three strays.

This innovative idea would help the country deal with its booming stray dog population in a humane manner.

According to the national newspaper of Bhutan, Kuensel, the uncontrolled stray dog population in the country has led to many issues, including increasing dog bite cases.

Many people loved this idea and asked other countries to follow suit.

A Twitter user named Aparna Karthikeyan, wrote: “And the world will be *such* a beautiful place, if only we could care for every creature the way we did for our families… Thank you, Bhutan, for showing the way!”

Pupperish reports that in 2009 Bhutan started a nationwide program which aimed to spay and neuter the poor strays.

The Humane Society International assisted with the project and have conducted a Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release campaign.

After the dogs were spayed and neutered, they were released the same day in the same place where they were found.

More than 71.000 dogs have been spayed, neutered, and vaccinated from 2009 to 2016.

Voice For Us note: I disagree with the campaign being called “ Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release”, the poor furbabies are not “released” but RE-ABANDONED!

I’d like to take this opportunity to repeat my heartfelt appeal, “Please do not shop, our streets are full of strays in need of a furever home.”

New Tennessee law bans animal abusers from owning a companion animal for a significant period

Friday, March 20, Governor Bill Lee signed SB SB1747 into law, days after getting approval from the General Assembly.

This means that in Tennessee, the new law that will go into effect July 1, 2020, will keep people charged with animal cruelty from owning a companion animal for a significant period of time.

wjhl.com reports that according to a summary of the legislation, “as introduced, requires a sentencing court to prohibit a defendant convicted of certain offenses against animals from owning any companion animal for at least two years from the date of conviction.”

“In specific cases, the judge has the authority to make that ban longer, including up to a lifetime.

As for the second part of the bill, if you are convicted a second time on animal cruelty, you are banned for life from having a pet.”

Once again, we rely on judges to make things happen and protect the voiceless!

HUNTER VINCENT SAUBION needed 50 stitches after a deer unwilling to be hunted fought back

36-year-old hunter VINCENT SAUBION (pictured below), was hunting with friends in Lesperon, Landes, France, back in January when he was reportedly attacked by a deer.

The incident has only been made public now.

During the attack, the deer ripped some flesh out of the hunter’s face.

SAUBION did not even realize that he was injured and wanted to keep hunting.

In the group there was a firefighter trained in first aid who assisted the hunter until he was eventually airlifted to the Pellegrin Hospital in Bordeaux.

The wounds on the hunter’s face required 50 stitches.

Despite this incident SAUBION told reporters: “I am still crazy about hunting."

SAUBION, serves you right!!! Leave animals alone!!!

Take your friends and family into the woods, hunt each other and hang their heads on your walls!!!
