ZACKERY DIEHL arrested for abusing his two dogs who are now safe

- New York, USA -

On Thursday, May 5, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of possible animal abuse and launched an investigation.

The sheriff’s office did not disclose many details in a news release posted on their Facebook page, but according to the release, deputies arrested 29-years-old ZACKERY DIEHL, of Palenville, for abusing his two dogs. DIEHL was charged with Misdemeanor animal cruelty.

The furbabies, brother and sister, are 6-month-old Pitbull mix named Paris and Scoob.

According to HudsonValley360, Captain Tracey Quinn of the Greene County Sheriff's Office “confirmed the abuse was physical, and not a nutrition or shelter issue.”

After DIEHL was charged, Paris and Scoob were surrendered to the sheriff’s office and then turned over to Hyer Ground Rescue in Catskill for the night.

On Friday morning Paris and Scoob were taken to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.

The shelter’s manager, Jessica Farkas, said that Paris and Scoob remained slightly nervous Friday morning.

Ron Perez, Columbia-Greene Humane Society president and CEO, said that Paris and Scoob are currently under the care of the shelter, and after a full examination and a rehabilitation period will be up for foster/adoption.

Perez also said: “We're optimistic with the help of our trained staff the pups will make a complete recovery and lead a full, happy life in their new home without the threat of cruelty in their lives.”

Furthermore, Perez is confident the Greene County District Attorney's office will deliver justice for Paris and Scoob.

On behalf of Paris and Scoob and a grateful Humane Society, we'd like to thank the Greene County Sheriff's Office for a job well done”, said Perez.

DIEHL was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Catskill Court.
