YVETTE ROGERS and RONNIE GOODWIN arrested in a case of neglected and abandoned dog

Clay City Police Department said that on March 19, officers assisted Powell County Animal Control with an abandoned and neglected dog case at the 4th Avenue Apartments in Clay City.
According to a news release, neighbors found the furbaby inside of a closet in an apartment where the previous tenants had just been evicted.
An investigation identified the tenants as 41-years-old YVETTE ROGERS and 50-years-old RONNIE GOODWIN (both pictured).
Police said the dog was “malnourished and had an extreme case of fur matting which was causing the dog immense pain.”
Powell County Animal Control took possession of the VOICELESS VICTIM, now named Louie.
Animal Control Officer Justin Wright told FOX 56 that Louie could barely walk due to the horrific condition he was in. The hair was so bad that was wrapped around his leg and sticking to everything. It was hard to tell where his skin and hair met, said Officer Wright.
Louie also had very long fingernails, he was unkempt, and covered in his own feces and urine.
Officer Wright believes Louie was left living off the trash inside the apartment for several weeks.
Louie has been groomed, is now in foster care, and is doing a lot better!
Officer Wright also said that he’s only been on the job for 3 weeks and was not expecting to encounter such cruelty so soon. He said he was heartbroken and shocked.
As for the scum who neglected and abandoned Louie, after warrants were obtained for them, ROGERS and GOODWIN were located and taken into custody on March 23, and booked at the Powell County Detention Center on cruelty to animals 2nd Degree.
When ROGERS and GOODWIN were questioned, they “stated they left the dog in the apartment because ‘they ran out of time to move’.”
