WILLIAM DEREK CHASTAIN charged with cruelty to animals, domestic assault, and meth possession

- Knox County, Tennessee, USA -

On Saturday night, December 14, police responded to a home on Country Run Lane in Powell, to investigate a case of domestic disturbance.

Officers found a woman hiding in her truck with her child.

She told them that 33-year-old WILLIAM DEREK CHASTAIN (pictured below), tried to kill her dog and threatened to beat her.

The woman told officers that when she was in the bathroom, she heard her 1-year-old Blue Weimreiner named Trigger, screaming in the kitchen.

When she went to check, she saw CHASTAIN hitting the defenseless furbaby and shocking him with a shock collar.

Then, CHASTAIN choked the helpless pup and tried to twist his neck.

Trigger was so frightened and traumatized that he peed on the floor and according to court records the accused made the woman clean it up.

An officer entered the home and found Trigger in a pet carrier so small that he could not move freely, and his snout had been tied shut with a training muzzle.

During the investigation, officers found blood in the house and also on Trigger and CHASTAIN.

This vile individual was arrested, and 15.6 grams of meth were found on him.

In a lock box officers also discovered meth, dextroamphetamine, hydrocodone, and several other unidentifiable pills.

The Department of Child Services was notified and when they responded to the scene they took custody of the child.

Animal Control also arrived and took Trigger in their care.

CHASTAIN was taken to the Knox County Detention Facility.
