UPDATE on 32-year-old RYAN CHRISTOPHER GARLAND (pictured below).
On Wednesday, September 9, after pleading guilty under diversion to aggravated animal cruelty, GARLAND was shamefully and disgracefully sentenced to one year of PROBATION!!!
GARLAND was ordered to pay $200 a month in restitution to the animal shelter that took care of Koa, the kitten he cruelly abused.
GARLAND is also prohibited from owning animals ever.
In August 2019, RYAN CHRISTOPHER GARLAND tortured a defenseless kitten.
He forcefully pulled the kitten’s claw, he shaved her tiny head, and cut off her whiskers.
An X-ray shows cracked ribs, and bruised lungs.
She also had drugs in her system.
Four women found the helpless kitten on GARLAND’s bed, wrapped her up in a towel and took her to the Carter County Animal Shelter where staff named her Koa, a Hawaiian word for brave.
Koa was immediately rushed to Paws of Hope Animal Wellness Center in Bluff City, where Dr. Brooke Jones determined that this was a case of animal cruelty.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.
On August 7, 2019, this worthless individual was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals.
He then walked on $1,000 bond!
On August 30, 2019 GARLAND made his first court appearance before General Sessions Court Judge Keith Bowers.
On October 7, 2019, GARLAND appeared in Carter County Sessions Court and it was ruled his charges to be upgraded to aggravated animal cruelty.
The case was bound over to criminal court.
The disgraceful judge who sentenced this monster to probation instead of sending him to jail for a very long time sent a clear message to animal abusers in Carter County: The abuse of innocent animals will not be severely punished by me!
This so-called judge must be removed.
Lenient sentences only encourage more cruelty, they do not end it!!!
