Two twisted teenagers arrested following an investigation into the killing of fifteen kangaroos

WIRES, Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organization, is caring for a female joey, the sole survivor of carnage at the hands of two savage teenagers.


WIRES wrote in a Facebook post that a total of fifteen Eastern Gray kangaroos, including two joeys were killed at two separate locations in Batemans Bay.


NSW Police Force said that on the early morning of Saturday, October 9, they were called to the Long Beach area about kangaroos who had been killed.


Officers from South Coast Police District along with WIRES responded to the scene and discovered five adult kangaroos and one joey dead on Blairs Road and Sandy Place.


Police were later alerted to a further seven kangaroos and one joey who were found dead in the Maloneys Beach area.


WIRES said: “It is a tragic and senseless act that has left an indelible mark on our dedicated Mid South Coast branch volunteers who attended the scene, as well as the local residents.”

The organization named the surviving joey Hope.


As part of the investigation, police spoke to multiple witnesses and examined CCTV from the area. This led them to seek the drivers of two white 4WD utility’s seen in the areas of Blairs Road and Sandy Place, Long Beach and Maloneys Drive and Hibiscus Close, Maloneys Beach, between the evening of Friday, October 8, and the early hours of Saturday, October 9.


The investigation resulted in the identification and arrest of two cruel, evil, and sick teenagers.


The murderers, both 17 years old, were arrested on the early evening of Monday, October 11, at Bateman's Bay police station.


The duo were handed a Court Attendance Notice for recklessly beat and kills animal.


They are expected to appear in children’s court on Friday, November 22, 2021.
