Two squirrels have found their way into a family home and made themselves comfortable

- Florida, USA -

Some squirrels have found their way into a Haines City home and are not leaving.

Ms. Annie Peavey rents a property near Kokomo and Marion Roads and at least two squirrels have entered her condo in December making themselves comfortable.

She says that the creatures have destroyed her furniture and are becoming aggressive.

“They like us now and know our habits.” “They don’t want to leave.” She told WFLA TV station.

The rodents have made themselves at home. “(One) normally likes to stay on the back of my couch, and the other one likes the chair.” Said Ms. Peavey.

Reportedly, she addressed the situation with the property manager, but the problem was not resolved.

After weeks of complaints, the property manager and HOA officials have put up traps but the cute mammals are not falling for that.

Ms. Peavey contacted 8 On Your Side Investigates for help and investigator Mahsa Saedi stepped in.

She visited the family at their home and then called the property manager, Leif Olander. WFLA reports that he told her “The squirrels got in through a hole on the outside of the property. The property manager claims the HOA closed the hole, trapping the squirrels – so now, the HOA is responsible. Meanwhile, the HOA tells 8 On Your Side they’re not responsible for problems inside the unit. Legally, they are only responsible for fixing issues in common areas.”

So basically, they are pointing fingers at each other.

Mr. Olander also told Mahsa Saedi that pest control technicians would be called to remove the unwanted tenants.
