Trooper Neil Chapdelaine kindly responded to my email and told me that the dog is a female. She is 2.5 years old and her name is Coco. Trooper Chapdelaine tells me that Coco is still at Riverside Rescue. I found a Facebook post published by the nonprofit and the screenshot has been added to the gallery below.

~ Original story:

The New Hampshire State Police announced that two arrests have been made in the case of a dog who had been abandoned at the side of a bridge on Hogan Road in Coös County.

NHSP said that on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m. they were alerted to a dog “located precariously near the edge of a bridge on North Road in the town of Shelburne.”

Trooper Neil Chapdelaine responded to the area and found a helpless brindle colored hound dog. With the assistance of a local dog trainer and others, Trooper Chapdelaine was able to successfully rescue the furbaby who was not wearing a tag nor did he/she have identification chip. The dog was first taken to the Woodlands Veterinary Clinic in Lancaster and then transferred to the Riverside Animal Rescue in Lunenburg, Vermont.

Police identified as those who SENSELESSLY, and HEARTLESSLY abandoned the dog, TRAVIS MELTON and JESSICA ALLEN (both pictured), both of Berlin, NH.

The despicable duo were arrested on misdemeanor cruelty to animal charges and are no longer in custody.

Their arraignment is slated to take place on March 8, 2023.
