Three cows found alive after being swept out to sea by Hurricane Dorian

- USA -

Hurricane Dorian generated a mini tsunami on September 6, causing dozens of horses and cows to be swept to sea from their home on Cedar Island, North Carolina.

Cape Lookout National Seashore wrote on their Facebook page that one cow was found alive right after the storm and she has now been joined by two more who have been found also alive and roaming on a neighboring island which makes up a chain known as the Outer Banks.

Sadly, it is believed most of the livestock died in the storm.

Officials believe that the cattle successfully swam through miles of stormy waters.

Mr. BG Horvat, spokesman for Cape Lookout said that the cows will probably have to be sedated and returned to Cedar Island by boat.

For now, he said that trio are grazing peacefully together on federal grass.
