The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 38-years-old TERRELL DANIELLE COLEY (pictured).
In a press release the sheriff’s office said that on the morning of Saturday, May 14, deputies were dispatched to a residence on 12843 119th Street North in unincorporated Largo, after receiving a complaint about multiple dogs barking at the home.
Upon arrival, deputies confirmed that there were dogs barking and attempted to make contact with someone at the home.
In the backyard of the property, deputies talked to COLEY.
On the scene, deputies observed “a large amount of handmade wood kennels” “which housed approximately 30 dogs of all ages”, stated the release.
The situation witnessed by deputies indicated “possible animal abuse and neglect” so COLEY was taken into custody.
After obtaining a search warrant from the State Attorney’s Office, Sixth Judicial Circuit, deputies entered the property.
Pinellas County Animal Services also responded to the scene and removed 33 Pitbull Terriers of various ages. Four of the furbabies were injured.
The search warrant also led officials to enter the home where dog fighting equipment was found.
Inside the home deputies also located two children under the age of 14 “with no food or supplies.”
The search further led to the discovery of cocaine, multiple firearms, and ammunition.
“A large amount of white powder was additionally found and test results are pending”, said the sheriff’s office.
COLEY was arrested on 4 counts aggravated cruelty to animals, 29 counts animal cruelty, 2 counts felon in possession of a firearm, 1 count possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and 1 count possession of cocaine.
The sheriff’s office said additional charges are pending.
COLEY was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and online arrest records show he is being held in lieu of $157,000 bail.
The sheriff’s office advised that the investigation is still active.
