TERRANCE MARVIN COOPER arrested for operating a dogfighting ring

Gaston County Police arrested 39-years-old TERRANCE MARVIN COOPER (pictured) and charged him with animal cruelty and dogfighting.
It all started on April 28, 2022, when Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement responded to a residence on 1911 Hemlock Avenue in Gastonia, after receiving a report of dogfighting in the backyard of the property.
In a news release police said that in the backyard of the home, Animal Care and Enforcement Specialists found a dead dog and live dogs caged, living in poor conditions.
Officials immediately became concerned for the dogs’ health as “some were found suffering from obvious injuries”, stated the release.
Efforts to contact the residents were unsuccessful so, search warrants were obtained to search the residence for evidence related to possible animal cruelty and dogfighting activity.
Police said over 30 animals were located at the home and were immediately removed.
All of the VOICELESS VICTIMS were taken to the Gaston County Animal Shelter for evaluation and medical treatment.
According to WBTV, goats and rabbits were also found at the home.
Police also said that these poor animals are being well cared for and receiving the medical attention they need thanks to a collaborative effort by the Humane Society International, Dr. Erika Mastalerz with Lincoln County Animal Services, Dr. Robert Neunzig and Gaston Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic, Chester County Animal Control, Double N Kennels, Gaston Veterinary Hospital, and AJ’s Landscaping.
Online arrest records show that COOPER, was charged with 30 felony counts of animal cruelty and 30 felony counts of dogfighting.
COOPER is being held at the Gaston County Jail on a $350,00 secured bond.
