TAUFIQ BASHIR MUJAWAR stabbed an innocent cow for taking a papaya from his cart

A fruit vendor became extremely angry when a cow took a papaya from his cart and gulped it down.


The vendor, identified as 35-year-old TAUFIQ BASHIR MUJAWAR, took a knife and senselessly stabbed the innocent bovine in the abdomen and limbs.


The incident happened on Wednesday, February 17, at Murud in Raigad district where MUJAWAR had his fruit stall.


Thankfully, bystanders alerted the police and stepped in to help the cow who was taken to a local veterinary clinic.


The injured bovine was administrated injections to stanch the bleeding and bandaged to prevent infection from spreading.


The cow’s guardian filed a report with the Murud Police.


MUJAWAR was placed under arrest and booked under various sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.


MUJAWAR appeared in court and is now in judicial custody.


According to India Legal, judicial custody implies that the accused is lodged in jail and is under the custody of a magistrate.


Judicial custody can be extended to a maximum period of 90 days for offences punishable with more than 10 years of imprisonment, and 60 days for all other offences.


The punishment for killing, hurting or torturing an animal could be up to 2 years jail time or a fine or both. Fines could be as low as Rs. 10 ($0.14).
