SHAYMESHIA LOSHAY WASHINGTON sought for abandoning dog in dumpster now in custody

The suspect that Henrico Police were seeking in August in connection with an innocent dog found in a dumpster, is now in custody.


On September 29, police arrested and charged with one count of felony animal cruelty 32-years-old SHAYMESHIA LOSHAY WASHINGTON (pictured below).


On the morning of August 21, Henrico Police Animal Control received a call about a dog who had been found in a dumpster in the 1900 block of Betner Court in the Sandston Woods apartment complex in Sandston.


Responding officers discovered a Boston Terrier who was in poor condition.

The furbaby was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic where he was euthanized.


According to Henrico County Sheriff’s Office online records, WASHINGTON is still in custody and is being held without bond.


Animal cruelty is a felony in Virginia that can come with up to five years in prison.
