Severely thin dog found behind an Ohio Walmart dies despite efforts to save her precious life

- Ohio, USA -

On April 29, the Trumbull County Dog Pound picked up a female dog behind a Walmart on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township who was severely thin with her ribs showing.

The furbaby was taken to MedVet Mahoning Valley where she “received fluids, antibiotics, and pain medicine”, said the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County in a Facebook post.

The furbaby was named Sunny.

The shelter said that Sunny had a guardian given the collar marks on her neck.

In a subsequent post, the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County said that Sunny was resting comfortably and advised that she would have additional follow up testing and care the next day. The shelter added that Sunny was in bad shape and has a long road ahead of her.

On the afternoon of Saturday, April 30, in a Facebook post the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County said: “Sunny started the day strong but unfortunately has taken a turn for the worse.” Staff gave her fluids, spoon fed her, and comforted her.

Sadly, a few hours later a devastating update announced that Sunny had passed away.

The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County said: “Rest in Peace sweet Sunny. We wish we could have got to you sooner. 💔”

The shelter is asking those who recognize Sunny and have information about her guardian to come forward. Whoever did this to Sunny must not go unpunished!
