Ridgeland Police arrested 54-years-old SAMUEL ALLEN HARDEE JR. (pictured below).
According to WJTV, investigators said they received a complaint from a person who reported seeing a deceased cat who had been left on a doorstep.
An examination determined the VOICELESS VICTIM had been shot with a pellet rifle.
From an investigation conducted by Ridgeland Police Department along with its Division of Animal Control it then emerged that another innocent cat had been shot with a pellet-type weapon.
As part of the investigation, neighbors were interviewed and officials identified HARDEE as being the one who SENSELESSLY and CRUELLY shot the furbabies.
Police said that during a search at HARDEE’s home, on 579 Boardwalk Boulevard in Ridgeland, officers recovered several items to be used in the prosecution.
HARDEE, a convicted felon, was arrested on January 20, and booked into the Madison County Detention Center on two counts of felonious injury to or killing of an animal.
HARDEE is being held on a $20,000 bond until his initial appearance before a Ridgeland Municipal Court Judge.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections has placed a hold on HARDEE for probation violation reasons.
Madison County Journal reports that Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal said: “Animal abuse and cruelty is often a precursor to other serious violent crimes, so swift and harsh prosecution of these types of cases will hopefully prevent future acts by defendants.”
