UPDATE: August 3, 2021

On Monday, August 2, at the Piscataquis County Courthouse, 43-year-old RYAN TORREY CARLETON (pictured below), was sentenced for murdering his father’s cat and for assaulting a corrections officer.

CARLETON was sentenced to ONLY two years with the Maine Department of Corrections and ONLY one year of probation for the assault, animal cruelty, theft, criminal mischief, and violating his bail.

News Center Maine reports that CARLETON spoke to the judge saying he would be appealing the conviction.

He also explained that the only reason for his misbehavior in jail, which included throwing urine and feces at corrections officers, was because he was falsely accused.

Piscataquis County Assistant D.A. Chris Almy said the nine months that CARLETON has already served will come off of his two-year sentence.

DA Almy told News Center Maine: “Mr. Carleton‘s conduct shows that he was not just a person who would smash in the head of a kitty cat with a frying pan but he is also going to be dangerous in the jail and we’re concerned that he would be dangerous in the community. So hopefully this sentence will deter future conduct on his part.”

Voice For Us wants to remind DA Almy and the judge who gave this filthy murderer a light sentence, that those who harm/kill animals are toxic and toxic people do not change, they only change their victims!!!

Furthermore, CARLETON will pick up his life from where he left off once he is released, but the precious life of Little Princess is gone forever!!!

This is what judges need to keep in mind when they hand down sentences in animal cruelty cases.

This is why Voice For Us firmly believes that animal abusers must be sentenced to the death penalty. You took a life, now you give yours!!!

UPDATE: July 19, 2021

On Tuesday, July 13, 43-year-old RYAN TORREY CARLETON (pictured below) was found guilty of animal cruelty after beating his father’s cat to death with a frying pan last Thanksgiving.

CARLETON represented himself at trial.

News Center Maine reports that Chris Almy is the assistant district attorney in this trial and he said: “Mr. Carlton has some mental difficulties, certainly that's going to play a role in this whole thing. But I think the conduct that he engaged in respect to the cat is pretty, fairly horrific.”

A sentencing date has not been determined by the judge.

~ Original story:

Bangor Daily News reports that on Wednesday, November 25, 43-year-old RYAN TORREY CARLETON (pictured below) was released on an unsecured bond for stealing his mother’s car.

The prosecutor asked District Court Judge Kevin Stitham not to release him on bail and to keep in jail.

Instead, judge Stitham allowed CARLETON bail and ruled, among other conditions, that CARLETON was not to have contact with his parents.

His mother resides in Guilford, and his father lives in Sangerville.

CARLETON went to visit his father on his release day, and his father allowed him to spend the night knowing that would violate his bail condition.

The following day, on Thanksgiving, the father woke up early morning to find his cat dead.

CARLETON had killed the months-old furbaby named Little Princess.

The father had called the police to report that his son was “out of it” and very violent.

A responding deputy then called in an investigator and CARLETON was arrested again.

The father discovered the lifeless body of the furbaby in the room where his son has slept.

He called to the deputy and said: “He killed my cat”, reports BDN.

The father also found a bloody cast iron frying pan which was allegedly used to murder the defenseless cat.

CARLETON is scheduled to be back in court on Monday, November 30.

Hopefully, a judge with a BRAIN will let him rot in jail this time, no more bail or bond that allows him to be out there and commit more crimes!!!!!!!!!

As I was reading the article, I scrolled down to the part that reads: “Carleton faces a slew of charges, the most serious of which is theft of his mother’s car, a Class B crime. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 on that charge. The majority of the other charges are Class D misdemeanors which carry a penalty of up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.”

Can you believe that?

The theft of an object is more serious than the murder of an innocent life!

I feel that CARLETON is NOT the sole murderer in this case.

I feel that judge Stitham must be held accountable for the senseless and unnecessary death of an innocent cat.
