ROY MADRID was arrested for throwing a defenseless kitten to the ground

- Kirtland, New Mexico, USA -

On September 14, a San Juan County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a property on County Road 6566 to investigate a domestic violence incident.

A woman told the deputy that a kitten had been injured by 27-year-old ROY MADRID.

She said she saw MADRID throwing the defenseless kitten to the ground outside the home.

While MADRID was being questioned by the officer, the lady brought the injured furbaby and told the accused: “Look at what you did.”

Right in front of the deputy, MADRID took the helpless kitten out of the box and dumped him on the ground.

During the confrontation among all the parties, it came out that at the beginning of September during an argument between the lady and MADRID, he threw the cat across the street.

The kitten was taken to a shelter and was sadly euthanized.

MADRID denied the accusations and claimed that the feline had been attacked by another animal.

The deputy talked to an employee of the shelter where the furbaby was euthanized and was told that he suffered internal injuries, a possible broken spine, and there were no external wounds, which contradicts MADRID’s claim.

MADRID was accused of fourth-degree felony extreme cruelty to animals.

He was arrested Monday, September 23 and held at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
