REWARD offered in the case of a German Shepherd shot in the eye and left to die

“What kind of person could do such a thing to a poor defenseless animal? The coward shot this German Shepherd in Wellington and left her to bleed.”
That’s how the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office started their appeal on Facebook.
On the morning of Wednesday, March 2, deputies were dispatched to the 13000 block of Folkstone Circle in Wellington regarding an animal cruelty call.
On the scene, they found a tan/black German shepherd, named Bella, who was bleeding profusely after being shot. Bella had gunshot wounds to her face and upper body.
Bella’s guardian, Juanis Hernandez, said that Bella had escaped from a screened-in porch and the family was searching for her. The family then learned that Bella had been found a few blocks away and she had been shot. She said she had had Bella since she was a puppy.
Unfortunately, she cannot afford the furbaby’s medical bill so she gave her up.
Bella is now being cared for at Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee Groves and has been renamed Empress.
Ms. Sydney Vreeland showed reporter Ari Hait with WPBF an x-ray of Empress and explained that the bullet is lodged toward the back of Empress’ trachea. She also pointed at bullet fragments still present, and a number of spots just centimeters from Empress’ spine.
Ms. Vreeland went on to explain that the bullet entered Empress’ skull just below her left eye, breaking her jaw. She said doctors are worried about surgery to remove the bullet given how close the fragments are to Empress’ spine. They also said she may need surgery to repair her jaw.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is now offering a reward of $13,000 to help find the cruel shooter(s).
