REWARD offered in a case of a cat found dead after being drowned while inside a trap

- South Carolina, USA -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said that on November 23, Beaufort County Animal Services went to Magnolia Park Apartments on 314 Laurel Bay Road in Burton after receiving a report about a stray cat on property. Officers set up a trap for the cat but when they returned the following day, the trap was missing.

Beaufort County Sheriff deputies then responded to the scene and with animal control officers they found the trap submerged in a pond on the property; sadly, the furbaby was found lifeless inside the trap.

The sheriff’s office said, “It was later confirmed the cause of the cat's death was drowning.”

As the sheriff’s office explained, as of the afternoon of December 1, those responsible for this heinous crime have not been identified.

The Hilton Head Human Association is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to a criminal conviction.
