RENEE CAUDILLO and ELIAS CAUDILLO facing charges after dogs found dead in a U-Haul trailer

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 21, Corpus Christi Police were called to the 5500 block of Everhart near Holly Road for a disturbance.

Police were told there was a fight over several dogs who may have been dead.


Corpus Christi Animal Care Services were then called to the scene and officers found a U-Haul trailer that had fourteen dogs inside. Sadly, several were deceased.


Joel Skidmore, with Animal Care Services, told KIIITV one adult dog and eight puppies were found dead.


Five adult dogs were taken to the emergency room .

Two of them were euthanized due to the critical condition they were in. The other three are currently receiving ongoing medical attention.


Joel Skidmore explained: “They're not out of the woods yet, but we’re confident in the team that is taking care of them. Once they are fully recovered we are going to be seeking placement to make sure they get a better second chance at life.”


As reported by KKKTV, “Police say when they were completing an inventory of the vehicle to be impounded, they located narcotic substance.”


Officers charged the owners, 45-yeasr-old RENEE CAUDILLO and 54-years-old ELIAS CAUDILLO (both pictured below) with animal cruelty and possession of a controlled substance.


Police say the investigation is ongoing.
