The Orange County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to the public in hopes of finding the subhuman responsible for an act of animal cruelty which is beyond evil.
The furbaby in the pictures below is Petal.
In a news release the sheriff’s office said that a Good Samaritan found her on Saturday, July 17, behind a retail plaza at Forest City Road and Kennedy Boulevard.
According to the news release, Petal was found “near death.”
The Good Samaritan found the sweet Poodle with her mouth duct taped shut and all of her paws were also taped together.
“She was left on the hot pavement in the blazing sun. She was emaciated, dehydrated and weak. No one knew if she would make it”, said the sheriff’s office.
According to FOX13, the lady who found Petal and wishes to remain anonymous, ran to a nearby hair salon to get a pair of scissors and with another lady from the salon cut Petal free.
ClickOrlando reports that after Petal was found, Orange County Animal Services contacted the nonprofit Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida.
Although the sheriff’s office and some news outlets are reporting that Petal was found in a plastic bag, Ms. Rebecca Lynch, president of Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida clarified that Petal was actually found beside a plastic bag, so they don’t know whether or not she was placed inside the bag and she wiggled her way out of it since the bag was found right next to her.
Either way, what was done to Petal is beyond cruel!
I have checked Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida’s Facebook page for updates on Petal and I have learned that the initial medical examination revealed that she was “severely dehydrated, malnourished, emaciated, anemic (likely from the starvation and the sheer amount of fleas taking her blood), she has cataracts in both eyes, and both eyes are very much infected. She was started on IV fluids, pain meds, IV antibiotics, liquid iron, and eye drops.”
The nonprofit also said that Petal was so weak that she could not even stand on her own.
The poor soul is blind, may see some shadows, and she is likely deaf.
Staff at the East Orlando Animal Hospital are constantly monitoring her.
A subsequent update on Petal posted by Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida reads: “Petal is eating well and the IV fluids have helped her immensely. She’s even moving around now and able to walk a little on her own! This may not seem like much, but when she came to us on Saturday, she couldn’t even sit on her own, let alone stand or walk.”
Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida explained in a Facebook post that when it comes to emergency cases, there are good days and bad days. At the time of their post, that was a bad day for Petal.
“We’re doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and alive, and remain cautiously optimistic about her recovery”, wrote the nonprofit.
The monster who did this to a defenseless creature is out there and must be found.
Petal is a VOICELESS VICTIM who could not dial 911 to ask for help or to report the SENSELESS torture inflicted on her.
Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida said an anonymous donor is offering a $2,500 reward in exchange for information that will lead to a criminal conviction.
