I have heard back from the Paragould Police Department.
In an email Captain Brad Snyder told me that the dog survived the attack although he/she “suffered some lacerations.”
Thanks to patrol officer Corporal Scott Dodd and two persons that wish to remain anonymous, “the dog was transported to the vet by Cpl. Dodd and the vet was able to repair the wounds. Cpl. Dodd and the two other persons paid for the vet bill in full from their own pockets. The dog is recovering well, and it is our understanding that it has a loving home in the works”, reads part of the email.
Captain Snyder explained to me that this case is still under investigation and since it has not yet been forwarded to the prosecuting attorney's office, information that can be released at this point is limited.
Captain Snyder will kindly provide me with the additional information I requested later.
~ Original story:
On May 3, Paragould Police Department officers received a report about a woman who had stabbed a dog.
Officers responded to a home in the City of Paragould and found a dog who was bleeding from the neck area. The furbaby had two open wounds.
Officers identified 27-years-old MEAGHAN LAINE YARBROUGH (pictured) as the woman who had stabbed her dog.
KAIT 8 reports that according to the affidavit, “The knife used in the incident was collected.”
Police said that when detectives questioned YARBROUGH, she “gave incriminating statements during the interview.”
On May 4, Greene County District Court Judge Daniel Stidham found probable cause to charge YARBROUGH with the offense of aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or equine, a Class D felony.
Online arrest records show that YARBROUGH is being held at the Greene County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond.
A court date has been set for June 27, 2022.
It’s unclear whether or not the VOICELESS VICTIM survived the attack.
I have emailed the Paragould Police Department to inquire about his/her well-being and if I get a response, I will post an update.
