26-years-old LONNIE CHILDERS (pictured below) was arrested for animal cruelty thanks to a citizen who took it upon themselves to get a warrant, reports WAAYTV.
According to the news agency, Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies went to CHILDERS’ home on January 3, for a welfare check following a report about dogs at the home who had not been fed in several days and that were being kept on a 6-inch leash.
Reportedly, after the deputies’ visit, CHILDERS was not arrested.
Here is an interesting fact, the law allows a citizen to visit the magistrate’s office and city clerk to get a warrant under certain circumstances.
So, the aforementioned citizen who was aware of this situation, did just that.
CHILDERS, of Grant, was arrested on the early morning of Thursday, February 24, on one count of cruelty to animals.
He was released about three hours later after posting a paltry $1,000 bond.
As reported by WAAYTV, the sheriff’s office said three dogs were taken to a local animal shelter.
I have emailed the sheriff’s office and requested additional information about the case.
As usual, if I get a response, I will post an update.

Bless the citizen who took it upon themselves to do the job that the deputy chose not to. This is a most heroic act. I pray these precious souls get better & this apathetic human gets jail!
Here we go. Alabama. Another place that's just teeming with this sort of trash.
