JUAN VEGA PONCE arrested after four yearling horses found dead at his property

- California, USA -

In a brief news release the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were called to the 1600 Block of E. Roby in Porterville for a report of several dead horses and the incident was being investigated.

In a subsequent update, the sheriff’s office wrote that on Thursday, July 15, its AG Crimes Detectives were called to the 1700 Block of Tyler Street in Porterville for a report of four dead yearling horses and a severely sick mule.

Upon arrival, detectives observed there wasn’t any water on the property for the animals.

They learned that 53-year-old JUAN VEGA PONCE (pictured below), had not checked on the animals in the last ten days and they had run out of water.

PONCE was present while detectives were on the premises and was questioned.

The sheriff’s office said PONCE, of Delano, was later arrested for PC 597 animal cruelty.

He was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility.
