- Florida, USA -
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 28-year-old JONTERIA JATAE HAUGABOOK (pictured below), of Mina Circle in Fort Myers.
HAUGABOOK is accused of locking her 1-year-old dog, Queen, in a bathroom and abandoning her.
On May 4, the Animal Cruelty Task Force and Central District Criminal Investigations Division responded to HAUGABOOK’s apartment at the Edison Apartments, and discovered Queen in a bathroom, covered with urine and feces.
The furbaby was dehydrated, malnourished, and was suffering from chemical burns on her paws from prolonged exposure to the urine.
According to a news release by the sheriff’s office, Queen had been left alone in the small space for a week.
Queen is a voiceless victim who could NOT dial 911 to ask for help!
On May 5, HAUGABOOK was booked on aggravated animal cruelty charges.
While Sheriff Marceno’s stance on animal cruelty has always been clear, too many judges are still taking animal cruelty too lightly.
Online records in fact, show that this evil and heartless female was released less than six hours after she was booked on a $5,000 bond.
Well done judge for undermining the sheriff’s job!!!
HAUGABOOK is slated to be arraigned in Circuit Court on the morning of Monday, June 14.
As for Queen, Sheriff Marceno said the furbaby is currently recovering at Lee County Domestic Animal Services, where she is receiving the love and care she deserves.
