WJTV 12 News reports that 37-year-old JONATHAN STEWART (pictured below), has been charged with animal cruelty after ten horses were surrendered to the Leake County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the news outlet, investigators said the arrest follows a report of a witness who saw the horses wandering close to the Natchez Trace near Thomastown.
Sheriff Randy Atkinson told WJTV 12 News: “They were all in pretty bad health as far as our concern.”
Sheriff Atkinson said that as per protocol, the horses were transferred to the Magnolia Stock Yards, which is an auction house, and then explained that: “When they’re being abused, we need to have help to get these animals off the property. They have a vet that they call, and they know when to call a veterinarian to render livestock aid.”
STEWART was released on bond.
This isn’t the first time that STEWART is accused of animal cruelty.
In fact, as reported by WJTV 12 News, STEWART was also involved in animal cruelty case in May when two horses were removed and taken in by Joy Reynolds, founder and president of “Rocking R Ranch and Rescue”.
Reporter Thao Ta said at least one horse had to be put down while the remaining horses will be put up for adoption or given lifetime sanctuary at the rescue.
Some judges are the main cause of animal cruelty!
