On Friday, August 11, 2023, at Harrison County Justice Court, JESSICA ANN COLLINS (pictured) pleaded no contest to ten misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty in connection to a case that led Harrison County authorities to the discovery of more than thirty (30) deceased dogs on a Saucier property in March 2022.
By pleading no contest, COLLINS does not admit guilt, but agrees there is enough evidence to convict her.
COLLINS and her defense attorney, George Blair, negotiated a plea agreement with Harrison County prosecuting attorney Herman Cox. As a result, in exchange for her plea, Judge Brandon Ladner sentenced COLLINS to six months in Harrison County Jail on each count, with all but six months of the sentence suspended.
Judge Ladner’s generosity also extended to when COLLINS goes behind bars. In fact, COLLINS can take her sweet time and start her sentence on August 25, 2023. Isn’t it nice to deal with such an understanding and accommodating judge after you have killed innocent lives!?
The judge ordered COLLINS to pay “$2,827 in fines and restitution and $1,655 in court costs”, reports SunHerald.
Additionally, after her release, COLLINS “will undergo a psychiatric evaluation and return to court every seven months for a review of her case”, according to SunHerald.
Judge Ladner ordered COLLINS to not “own” or live with dogs or cats as pets for fifteen years and to not work anywhere involving the care of dogs or cats.

47-years-old JESSICA ANN COLLINS (pictured below) was arrested on Wednesday, March 2, after thirty dogs were discovered dead on a Saucier property.
WLBT reports that Connie Call, a lifelong animals advocate, is the one who made the gruesome discovery and alerted the authorities.
Ms. Call said she was told there were multiple dead dogs on COLLINS’ property on February 23.
Many of the deceased animals had been burned, while others were in trash bags.
Ms. Call also saw a decomposing bird and a neglected Labrador who was trapped in a shed. The furbaby was removed and taken to the Underdog Animal Society.
Ms. Call said that COLLINS, who also goes by the name JESSICA GALLASPY, was running an animal rescue operation and in recent weeks she even asked for donations on Facebook.
When Ms. Call asked COLLINS about the dogs, she responded they were attacked by a bobcat.
Court documents state that COLLINS also surrendered 14 dogs she was holding on a property in Pass Christian.
COLLINS is now facing one Felony count of animal cruelty and thirty Misdemeanors counts of simple animal cruelty.
Online records show COLLINS was released the same day of her arrest after posting bond.
Ms. Call rightfully said: “If you’re looking to surrender your animal for whatever reason just do background checks on the person, don’t just give your animal to the first person that says they’ll take them, because a lot of times it’s not going to end well.”
She then added: “It was heartbreaking to see these animals that had been trusted over to somebody that a lot of people trusted with their animals.”
