JASEN CHARLES HOWARD arrested for hanging dog to put her out of her misery

- Alabama, USA -

42-year-old JASEN CHARLES HOWARD (pictured below), was arrested Thursday, February 13, in Jackson County.

HOWARD, of Wheatfield, Indiana, is accused of hanging a puppy from a tree.

Reportedly, someone saw HOWARD taking a dog into the woods but then returned to his vehicle alone.

Thankfully the witness went into the woods to check and saw the helpless pup hanging from a tree.

The Good Samaritan immediately cut the rope to free the furbaby and then called the police giving the description of the vehicle HOWARD was driving.

HOWARD was later located while he was driving. Inside the vehicle there was another dog (last picture).

When he was questioned about the pup he hung, he claimed that he just wanted to put her out of her misery because she had deadly parvo and since he did not have a gun, he hung her.

The pup was taken to an animal shelter and tested negative for the disease.

Staff named her Valentine.

Valentine is believed to be a 5-month-old Bulldog mix.

The dog found in the vehicle was also taken to an animal shelter.

Both are doing ok.

The suspect was booked into the Jackson County jail on a felony charge of cruelty to animals and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers found what appeared to be a broken methamphetamine pipe with residue in the vehicle.

Many thanks to the person who stepped in and saved two precious lives.
