ISAAC BROOKS SANDERS and KERSHANNA SEABORN (both pictured below), were filmed abusing a puppy whom they then surrendered as part of a criminal proceeding.
On Thursday, October 8, detectives obtained a court order mandating the surrender of the furbaby.
Neighbors recorded SANDERS slapping and taunting the defenseless puppy while SEABORN stood there and watched.
The puppy was estimated to be only 7 weeks old at the time.
Ms. Theresa Sumpter, executive director of Detroit Pit Crew, said the neighbors filmed the abuse because that was not the first incident.
In fact, they had witnessed the individuals kicking the puppy before.
With the facts gathered about this incident, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said the evidence was INSUFFICIENT to support a FELONY under the state law, and the findings were then turned over to the city attorney for possible prosecution.
Chief Animal Control Officer Brian Pylar took possession of the furbaby and took him to a veterinarian to be examined.
Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue wrote in a Facebook post: “The puppy is currently at an animal hospital where he is being examined then he will remain in our care pending a court hearing.”
The duo turned themselves in on October 7, to Eastpointe Police on MISDEMEANOR charges.
SANDERS was arraigned on charges of animal cruelty and failure to care for an animal.
SEABORN was charged with failure to care for an animal.
They were both released on $5,000 personal bonds.
