Investigation underway after mama dog found with an arrow through her neck

- Georgia, USA -

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is reaching out to the public for information leading to the subhuman who cruelly and senselessly shot a defenseless mama dog with an arrow.

The Department said in a news release the incident is believed to have happened in the Vincent Drive area.

The furbaby was placed in the care of the nonprofit Athenspets – GA.

They named her Artemis and in a Facebook post of July 22, they wrote: “Artemis came to us with a broken leg, an arrow through her neck, and, most sickeningly, her throat cut. These were not fresh injuries--the tissue in her neck was necrotic and the break has started to heal. I cannot imagine the terror and pain Artemis has felt over the past few weeks. And, to make matters worse, she is lactating but her puppies were nowhere to be seen when she was picked up after being called in as a stray (thank you, whomever called for help for her!). We have no idea if they are alive or if they were also tortured.”

In a subsequent post, Athenspets – GA praised Firehall 4 Animal Hospital for the “amazing love and care” they show the animals in their care.

Staff got a stuffed toy for Artemis and they also bought her a harness and beautifully decorated her bandages.

Artemis is VOICELESS VICTIM who is counting on us humans to come forward and speak up for her!

I beg you, if you know where her babies are, if you have information about this case, please email Officer First Class Blake Manning. Thank you!

Additionally, if you wish and can afford to make a donation to Athenspets – GA, please visit their website to find out how.

Athenspets – GA needs funds to pay for Artemis’ medical bills and to set up a reward.

Thank you!
