Investigation underway after five dogs, including a deceased dog, were found at a Rochester home

- New York, USA -

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the Rochester Police Department was at a home on 161 Third Street to investigate a criminal trespass complaint.

When officers on the scene noticed a dog in distress, they contacted Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester for assistance.

The organization said in a press release that when humane investigators responded to the scene, they contacted the occupant of the home who granted them permission to enter.

Inside, the humane investigators found four dogs roaming freely. Sadly, they also discovered a fifth dog whom they said was dead due to injuries he/she had suffered.

Lollypop Farm explained that a necropsy will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

The four dogs were removed from the home and were taken to Lollypop Farm where they are being evaluated by a veterinarian.

Lollypop Farm said that earlier this winter humane investigators had already responded to the same home after receiving complaints of possible neglect. According to the organization, at the time no dogs were removed based on their condition and applicable New York State animal welfare laws.
