Investigation underway after dog found severely emaciated and injured and had to be euthanized

Authorities in Allen County are reaching out to the public for information after a dog was found so severely emaciated and injured that had to be euthanized.
The female furbaby was found on Monday, March 21, near U.S. 27 South and Hessen Cassel Road.
A motorist found the dog and took her to Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital.
The furbaby, was later transferred to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control where she was sadly euthanized.
The sheriff’s office said the dog was a black and gray female mixed breed between 8-18 months old. She weighed 11 1/2 pounds. Shelter staff said the pup should have been 30-40 pounds.
Allen County officials are now looking for the dog’s guardian and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
