- Florida, Lee County, USA -
The Lee County Sheriff's Office and Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers are asking for the public's help tracking down a suspect who shot and killed a family pet in Lehigh Acres.
It happened on Saturday, July 16, around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Jones Drive and Leda Avenue.
Fox 4 spoke with the family and Ms. Brittlynn Brown said that as they were gearing up to take their two dogs on a walk, her young son Treyvion opened the door and both furbabies ran out unleashed.
A few moments later, Treyvion heard several gunshots.
One of the two dogs, a Blue Brindle Pitbull named Kaia, came back with blood all over her.
SWFL Crime Stoppers reports that once the dogs were taken back inside the home, upon inspecting the injuries, one on Kaia’s right shoulder appeared to possibly be from a BB gun.
The following day Kaia was taken to the veterinarian where she sadly passed away.
On Sunday, July 18, the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control were alerted to the incident and responded to the home.
An investigation into the shooting immediately began and an extensive neighborhood canvas was conducted.
The shooter is still out there.
People who senselessly shoot innocent animals do not need guns; they need sessions with psychiatrists because they are sick, and they are also cruel!!!
Kaia did not deserve to die, and her killer does not deserve to walk free among us ready to kill again.
If you have information related to this case, please come forward and speak up!
Please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
Alternatively, you may submit your tips online or on the P3Tips mobile app. Thank you!
