GRETCHEN EDDY and CHRISTOPHER S. SPENCER arrested after a dog was found dead from shotgun wound

- New York, USA -

New York State Police have arrested and charged two people in connection with the death of an innocent dog found on March 4, 2022.

Police were alerted by a community member after they discovered the lifeless furbaby near power lines off Stewart Lane in the town of Sand Lake. Police said the VOICELESS VICTIM, a male neutered German Short Haired Pointer, appeared to have died from a gunshot wound.

The poor soul also had a large cyst on his front left paw.

Police said they do not know the age of the dog, but he is believed to be older due to the gray in his muzzle.

On March 15, the New York State Humane Association located in Kingston, offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Ms. Patricia Valusek of the New York State Humane Association rightfully said: “If you needed to put the dog to sleep, you would take him to a veterinarian and provide him with a humane death. Not do this [shooting the dog]. I have no idea what drives people to do what they do, but that’s why we put out the rewards—so these people can be brought to justice.”

57-years-old CHRISTOPHER S. SPENCER, of Averill Park, is accused of shooting and killing the furbaby and is facing a charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was issued an appearance ticket for Sand Lake Town Court on March 28, 2022.

The dog’s guardian, 44-years-old GRETCHEN EDDY (pictured), of Troy, is accused of failing to get her dog proper veterinary care before he was murdered. EDDY was charged with torturing or injuring animals/failure to provide sustenance, a Misdemeanor. She was also issued an appearance ticket for Brunswick Town Court on March 30, 2022.

On Monday, March 28, SPENCER pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on May 9, 2022.

On the night of Wednesday, March 30, EDDY appeared in Brunswick Town Court and pleaded not guilty.

EDDY was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on April 27, 2022.

News 10 reports that State Sen. James Tedisco (R, Glenville), who has been advocating for animal rights for several years, said the case represents another example of why New York State should have a statewide animal abuse registry. “Any pet shop—any family that wants to give away a cat or allow a breeder to purchase a dog—can go to a registry, look for that name. Similar to what we have for a sexual abuse registry.”

I cannot fathom how it is easier to shoot the precious soul rather than take them to a shelter where either they can be medically treated & rehomed or the saddest—euthanized. These two soulless monsters must be held responsible not just told NO NO BAD PEOPLE, & released with a fine they probably have no intention of paying, only to acquire another precious soul to ignore & abuse. RIP PRECIOUS BABY, you will hurt no longer.
