GONZALO VILLAGOMEZ accused of animal torture

- Illinois, USA -

The Kane County State's Attorney's Office announced on their Facebook page that State’s Attorney Joe McMahon has charged 27-year-old GONZALO VILLAGOMEZ (pictured below), of the 200 block of Villa Street in Elgin, with Class 3 felony animal torture, and Class 4 felony aggravated cruelty to animals for his role in the death of a 2-year-old Rottweiler mix.

From July 9, to July 10, the female furbaby was in the care of VILLAGOMEZ.

When the pup’s parent left her with VILLAGOMEZ, she was in good health, but when they returned, the poor soul wasn’t moving.

She had blood coming from her mouth and ears.

Elgin police took the dog to an animal clinic, where veterinarians sadly euthanized her to prevent further suffering.

A necropsy revealed that the dog suffered injuries to her abdomen, throat and head, had a lacerated liver and fluid in her lungs consistent with blunt force trauma, and had burns over 25 percent of her body.

VILLAGOMEZ appeared in Kane County bond court on Friday, August 7.

Kane County Circuit Judge Michael Noland set the criminal’s bail at $200,000, with 10 percent ($20,000) to apply for bond.

Judge Noland also set VILLAGOMEZ’s next court appearance at the Kane County Judicial Center for August 14.
