GLORI MEITH-PENSHORN takes plea deal and gets probation in the death of a dog found extremely thin

- Texas, USA -

On March 28, 2022, 47-years-old GLORI MEITH-PENSHORN (pictured), pled no-contest to the felony animal cruelty charges against her in the death of a dog later renamed Titan.

She was sentenced by the 81st Judicial District Court to 10 years on PROBATION!

NEWS4SA reports that under the plea agreement, in addition to probation MEITH-PENSHORN receives a 3rd degree felony conviction and she must pay $667 for Titan's medical expenses.

One of the conditions of her plea deal is she can no longer own an animal, ever.

This ridiculous sentence is the result of an investigation into severely malnourished dogs on her property in the 400 block of Hidden Deer, La Vernia.

· In August 2019, a passerby noticed a severely emaciated dog through the front gate of MEITH-PENSHORN’s home and filed a police report.

MEITH-PENSHORN was arrested on August 31, 2019, on a Class A misdemeanor charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals. She was booked into the Wilson County Jail. Although it was reported that she surrendered 11 dogs, she told KSAT: “Nothing was seized or surrendered. Where's the paperwork?

Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter said the dogs “went straight to Deason’s Animal Hospital for evaluation and treatment.”

The poor souls were severely emaciated, covered in fleas, had mange, hair loss, coccidia, and a number of different infectious worms.

Among those furbabies, there was one, later named Titan by the shelter, who was unable to walk and had to be carried off MEITH-PENSHORN’s property.

Titan was in critical condition due to starvation, anemia, parasitic infestation, and dehydration. Sadly, Titan died as a result of his injuries within 5 days of his rescue despite aggressive veterinary treatment and care. His body was immediately delivered to Texas A&M for a necropsy to confirm a cause of death.

MEITH-PENSHORN was released from jail shortly after her arrest and part of her bond conditions stated that she would not be allowed to possess livestock or any other animals until her court date.

· On May 8, 2020, MEITH-PENSHORN was indicted on a 3rd degree felony cruelty to non-livestock animals.

According to a Facebook post by the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter, the indictment stated that MEITH-PENSHORN:

Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly tortured an animal, namely Titan, a dog, by starvation, lack of water, and/or denial of veterinary care...”

and

Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly in a cruel manner caused serious bodily injury to an animal, namely Titan, a dog, by starvation, lack of water, and/or denial of veterinary care...”.

Sadly, this was not an isolated incident.

· In October 2020, someone witnessed dogs in “poor condition” on MEITH-PENSHORN’s property and filed a complaint with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

On the night of October 28, 2020, deputies, along with the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter, removed from the residence 4 adult dogs, 1 6-8 month old puppy, and 5 1-week old puppies. Among them was a nursing momma dog named Ruby by the shelter.

In a Facebook post the shelter said that all the dogs removed had “severe mange, hair loss, fleas, open sores, and scabs.”

Some of them had yeast infections, otitis, and fractured teeth.

Mama Ruby and her babies had an awful skin infection that smelled terribly.

At the time part of the post read: “With the puppies feeding from her in this condition, they will begin showing signs and symptoms of mange, yeast, and bacterial infection just like their momma unless she gets immediate treatment.”

With regard to MEITH-PENSHORN’s sentence the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter wrote on Facebook: “After 942 days, justice for Titan is served!”

Part of the post also reads: Although jail time would have been ideal, we are satisfied with the punishment. Glori Penshorn has finally been held responsible for her crimes against innocent animals. No punishment can reverse the horrors she inflicted on so many before or after Titan, but this is a big step in the right direction.”
