GILMER PATRICK EDWARDS & TANA CHRISTINE BROOKS facing charges after 51 dogs removed from their home

- Alabama, USA -

On March 7, the Hub City Humane Society in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, received a call requesting assistance with a hoarding case.

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control had responded to a trailer home on 19094 Meadow Dove Lane, Silverhill, where they found 51 dogs and puppies living in deplorable conditions.

The front porch was covered in feces and the home was full of urine and garbage.

There was feces and urine ankle deep on every surface in the home”, wrote the Humane Society in a Facebook post.

The organization said that they were able to take in 38 of the dogs and explained: “We will have to heartworm test everyone and treat those who are sick. We also believe many of the females are pregnant, so there will be more mouths to feed soon.”

In one of the updates, the Humane Society introduced Horton, one of the dogs removed from the trailer home.

He had infected bite wounds all over his body. He was covered in urine and feces”, wrote the Hub City Humane Society.

Dixie Donald with the Baldwin County Animal Shelter told WKRG: “The dogs have made almost a complete turnaround. They’re doing much better.”

They are getting more socialized, they are getting used to people”, she added.

There were two adults living inside the home, 51-years-old GILMER PATRICK EDWARDS and 52-years-old TANA CHRISTINE BROOKS (both pictured).

EDWARDS was arrested for cruelty to animals and booked at the Baldwin County Corrections Center on a $9,000 bond. Online records show he was released on March 21.

On Sunday, March 20, BROOKS turned herself in to authorities and according to online records, she was released a few hours later.

Records show this is the second time that the pair are facing animal cruelty charges.

WKRG reports that back in 2015, BROOKS and EDWARDS lost custody of their son when authorities found their trailer filled with garbage and feces.

Dogs, cats, and a bird were also removed from the home.

Their faces say so much. These FURBABIES are so scared. They crave love. Why do hoarders fall under the radar? These two have previously been identified & had the animals removed. Do the authorities truly believe all is cured & hoarders will just stop hoarding?! It’s been proven time and again, hoarding is an addiction. This time it must be the county’s responsibility to not only punish but ensure these two can never have pets again. Get better all you beautiful souls, please!
