- New Jersey, USA -

West Deptford Police Department said that on April 29, the Gloucester County SWAT Team executed a “knock and announce” search warrant on a property on the 1600 block of Atkins Avenue in West Deptford.

The Department said in a press release that the search warrant was the result of an animal cruelty investigation conducted by the Department, Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and Gloucester County Animal Control.

The investigation was launched after 33-year-old FELIPE ECHEVARRIA (pictured below), posted a video to his Instagram page depicting a dog with a 10-pound weight tied around her neck.

Police said ECHEVARRIA ordered the dog to jump onto the hood of a car first, and then the roof of the vehicle.

nj.com reports that the page to which the video was posted was not visible as of Friday, April 30.

According to police, ECHEVARRIA admitted to the incident in a taped statement.

Following the search warrant several dogs were removed from the residence and temporarily placed in the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.

Police arrested ECHEVARRIA and 34-year-old BRITTANY M. MORGAN (also pictured below).

The duo were charged with animal cruelty violations and were released on summonses pending court.

As reported by nj.com. ECHEVARRIA is scheduled to appear in municipal court on June 3.
