- El Paso, Texas, USA -
Following an investigation which began in February, finally ERICKA IVONNE PACHECO was arrested on Wednesday, September 25, on charges of animal cruelty.
According to El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) investigators, on February 20, officers with the Horizon Police Department were dispatched to the 14400 block of Golden Eagle Drive to investigate a traffic hazard.
Officers spoke with PACHECO who told them that she had dragged her two dogs with her vehicle.
The two pups were seized and taken to Animal Services.
KFOX 14 reports that one of the two dogs, a one-year-old Chihuahua now named Zoey, was taken in by MuttLove Dog Rescue.
Its president, Mary Mackay, says that Zoey has since been adopted and she is very much loved and spoiled.
Sadly, the other dog had to be euthanized.
Seven months after the incident, the EPCSO finally obtained an arrest warrant for PACHECO who turned herself in on Wednesday. The same day she posted a $3,000 bond.
