ERICK FLORES, a former NYPD officer, facing charges for abandoning his dogs in freezing temperatures

ERICK FLORES, a former NYPD officer, has been charged with nineteen counts of animal cruelty and neglect after authorities removed nine dogs from his home in December 2022.
According to Bronx News 12, officials say that FLORES abandoned his nine dogs in below-freezing temperatures over the Christmas Eve weekend. The furbabies were a mix of Rottweilers and Yorkshire terriers and four of them were puppies.
Authorities say they were alerted to the situation by FLORES’ neighbors.
Back in December 2022, Bronx News 12 reported that three of the dogs were left outside tied to trees, while the other six were found in FLORES’ freezing cold garage of his home on Knoell Road in Goshen without food or water.
The furvictims were placed in the care of the Hudson Valley SPCA.
Gene Hecht of the Hudson Valley SPCA Humane Law Enforcement, said: “Each of them already had hypothermia. They would never have made it through the night.”
Authorities say FLORES had left town and did not make any plans for someone to go check on his dogs.
“It’s his way of getting rid of the dogs — letting them freeze to death,” had said Hecht back in December.
FLORES is scheduled to appear in Goshen town court on March 14, 2023.
On a separate note, as I Googled FLORES, I came across an article by Craig McCarthy with the New York Post, published on October 19, 2021, entitled: “NYPD narco cop already in trouble over alleged pot is busted for ‘DWI’.” According to the article, ERICK FLORES, “already accused of testing positive for pot” was arrested in Orange County “for alleged drunken driving.”
