Nearly three weeks after the arrest of 48-years-old ERIC LEE DAVIS, officers with Animal Care and Protective Services removed 17 dogs from a home in the Murray Hill neighborhood on Thursday, May 19. The dogs were taken into protective custody.
Some of them were in bad shape and required immediate medical care.
DAVIS is accused of using scissors to crop the ears of his Pitbulls in an unsterilized environment while the furbabies were unsedated and bound to a board.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) and investigators with animal control said the illegal procedures were recorded on video and then posted on DAVIS’ Facebook page.
The VOICELESS VICTIMS could be heard whimpering and crying through the ordeal.
News4Jax reporter Erik Avanier said: “I personally went on that Facebook page to see the evidence for myself and I can confirm seeing what appears to be a dog forced to endure the pain.”
While Facebook promptly removes comments like: “Karma do your job”, or “Animal abusers deserve the same suffering they inflicted upon their victims”, DAVIS’ account has been active for months!
According to News4Jax, DAVIS’ arrest reports states that DAVIS is not only heard in the videos saying that the "he owns the dogs", but also appeared to be soliciting ear cropping and invited anyone who needed it done on their dog to contact him.
News4Jax said that those videos were removed after the station contacted Facebook’s corporate office.
Facebook Spokesperson released a statement to News4Jax and part of it read: “Upon review, the content violated our policies and we have removed the posts and disabled the account.”
News4Jax interviewed Jim Crosby who is a retired Jacksonville police officer and also one of the nation’s leading experts on animal cruelty investigations.
Mr. Crosby said: “It would be like doing surgery on one of your friends or family without using a doctor or using anesthesia or any proper procedures. It’s got to be incredibly painful for these dogs.”
News4Jax reports that according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, ear cropping a Pitbull does not add any health benefit to the dog.
Ear cropping a Pitbull is legal in the U.S., but under strict guidelines to protect the animal.
DAVIS is free on bond, according to online arrest records.
News4Jax said they reached out to DAVIS and his wife but the couple declined to comment.
On a separate note, as reported by News4Jax, three years ago DAVIS was cited for improperly tethering multiple animals with metal chains.
One year after that, DAVIS was cited for having more than five unsterilized dogs on his property and for not making sure all the dogs were vaccinated.
Clearly, this individual’s main interest is to abuse innocent dogs over and over again.
Why is he being allowed to offend over and over again?
I am struggling to comprehend why DAVIS is not behind bars serving time and why he has not been banned from having or from being around ANY animals FOR LIFE!!!!
